Price Check Looking to buy a JD 970 asking price 10k?

Hello to all. I just signed in to the forum, newbie, and asking about the JD 970.
I will look at the tractor next week. The pictures look OK and stated 800+ hours.
They are asking for 10k for the unit, says it needs new front tires due to the age
and wear. Back tires are fine. Stated respray paint. Has FEL no hoe.
I would want a hoe down the road.

Any advise would be great.

I will post a picture as after I see the tractor.

The 970 is a good tractor...Yanmar engine with, IIRC, about 33 HP (28-30 at the PTO).
Good machine, overall. It does have a gear transmission, BTW.
$10K isn't an unrealistic price for a fairly low hours machine, but I'd offer $8500-$9000 and see how the seller responds.

the 970 is a gear drive ,good solid tractor , but gear drives are harder to sell than power reverser is and I have had a 3039 r -reverser tractor for sale since july and no offers ???? everyone seems to prefer hydro if im putting my wife or kids on it ,it would be hydro , my price estimate is 6500 -7000 , if you want to spend 10keep looking and buy a hydro 4300 - 4400 theres a lot of them around
