All, I am considering buying a 600 or 800 series tractor. I have seen many posts about using Uhaul car trailer to move N series or Jubilee tractors, but nothing specifically related to the 600 or 800 tractors which are slightly bigger. Does anyone have any experience with moving a 600 or 800 series Ford on a Uhaul Trailer? Any info is much appreciated. FYI, theres a Uhaul rental next to my house in the city but no equipment rental places nearby seem to have trailers that I can rent.

When I bought my first Yanmar - specified as 1800 lbs plus its loader - the neighborhood U-haul, and then an independent rental yard, refused to rent to me for it. No Tractors allowed!

I went to another U-haul and told them it was a little garden tractor, that worked.

But it was more of an adventure than I expected. The rails were so wide I barely got the front tires secure. I chained the wheels to the rails in addition to ordinary tiedown.

Then I got moving and it felt far heavier than I expected. Brake check. Ok, the U-haul's inertia brakes worked fine. I went to a truck scale and found I was towing over 5,000 lbs. Either U-haul's trailer or my Yanmar was way over its nominal weight.

The tow was uneventful but I ran it like a Permit load. 50~55 max, quiet hour of the day, fall back if there was anyone within 1,000 ft in front. 17 years here now. The tractor has never left the property.

It will handle the tractor just fine. Those tractors aren't very heavy.

Depend's on whether tires are set wide or narrow. All Fords up to and including 1965 year models are within a few inches the same width both narrowed or spread. Ask seller to measure outside to outside of rear tires then you can measure trailer.

as it sits, the rear tires are mounted backwards so extra wide. If purchased I would revert them back to stock width. Thats why imwondering whether in stock width whether the 600 series is too wide for the uhaul hauler. Btw, i am aware of Uhaul's policies and renting for tractors.

If the tires are filled with liquid ballast you’ll might need to back the tractor onto the trailer to get enough tongue weight. That ballast will add a lot of weight to the tractor too. Some of those have wider tires than what came standard too, so liquid in them adds even more. I’m just bringing this up so you are aware and there are no surprises.

I don't think the 600-800 is any wider than the Jubilee. Maybe a couple inches because of rear tire size. But nothing else.

As Ford850 says, fluid adds a dynamic but nothing that would prevent it from fitting on a Uhaul trailer.

Without investigating, maybe TractorData.com would tell you the tread width of said tractor. Then add the width of the rear tire, i.e., 12.4, 14.9, etc.

You have to tell the U Haul people that you will haul a little Mazda or some such car. Hauling odd things is a no no.

Another detail, I don't remember if it was U-haul or the local rental place:

They asked if their trailer would go beyond the region and said that was prohibited in the contract you sign. Maybe because they have road service only within a limited distance from their shop.
