Looking to buy a dozer

/ Looking to buy a dozer #21
LIke you, I did most of my clearing with my track loader and then rented a dozer when I needed it. A brand new, all the bells and whistles dozer in the size you are looking at is around $600 for a weekend. When we did my dad's place in one shot, we got it for the month for a little under $5000. Sounds like a lot, but we built a mile long road from scratch. Well worth it and I snuck it over to my place for a few days.

When there was a problem, the shop came out and fixed it on-site and credited us a couple of days.

I'd love to own a dozer for my place, but I just can't justify it. In fact, I finished the last three miles of trail and sold the 931. I'll get a large CTL for maintenance from here on out.

I agree with some of the other posters about rneting versus buying. In 2009 I purchased a Nortrac NB3500E to do a number of projects at my own pace/time schedule. The amount of work to be completed (punching in a new road, clearing/leveling a building area, and carving drainfield benches into the side of the hill) only took about 50 hours. Now I sit on a piece of equipment that I no longer have consistent need for and as such am going to sell.

I suggets to anyone looking for equipment of anykind to evaluate need versus want and what how much you are willing to pay for covenience.
