Living near lake tahoe, we usually get adorned with really wet, sloppy snow which in most cases causes normal snow blowers to quickly clog up. On my Honda blower, I added some HDPE in the chute and that helped a lot. Does anyone know of any 3 point snow blower manufacturer who SHIPS their units with either UHMW or HDPE already custom fit to the interiors of the blowers? It would seem like a no-brainer to design a blower where the snow has no opportunity to stick to the metal. All the other factory modifications are moot in my eyes, if the snow STICKS to the interior metal of the blower. Thoughts? Recommendations of 84" blowers for REALLY DRIPPY wet snow?

There is no one that I know of in the marketplace except Yamaha that lines thier 2 stage walk behind units with slick sheet material.

With your wet dumps your going to have to decide between pronovost TRC800 2 stage with the rotating impeller drum to bypass the chute and spout OR a Reist series 1000 single stage unit with achange order to make it a five foot wide cut These units do not need a second stage impeller.

With the Pronovost TRC800 as a base unit you need a third remote or a second remote with a bypass valve to operate the drum rotation motor.

Direct buying a Riest Series 1000 single stage is about $4,000.00+- plus shipping from Elmira, Ontario, Canada
After the dollar exchange your going to save a lot of money as sales tax is refunded at the border if you pick it up or order it with a credit card.

Woodmaxx lines the chutes.

Lots of blower for the money. If I didn't have a blower, I would buy one from them.

72" Snow Blower, Tractor Snow Blower, Hydraulic Chute Rotation - WoodMaxx

Lining the chute is easy, but it would be nice if the collar between the box and the chute was lined as well as the back of the box. Some of the "wet" snow we get here looks like you have a fire hose on when you are blowing and the snow/water mix is coming out of the chute. And usually when the snow is that wet, it very often clogs the collar BEFORE it gets to the chute. I saw a post in the archives earlier today where one of the enterprising members of this forum LINED EVERYTHING with the non-stick. Great idea.... I was wondering if any blower manufacturer has that option, rather than me tearing up my hands trying to DIY. I am not sure any conventional blower will get away from the clogging problem without having some sort of non-stick.

Hello KanakaRick,

I use a lot of fluid film to coat the JD JUNK I have and also use it on the single stage snow pups that I own to clear snow and it doubles the distance of the wet heavy crap we both have and it would work very well with a Reist Series 1000 Single stage unit.

I can tell you it works very well and if you used it on the cross auger housing, the auger flighting and the chute and spout it will double your throwing distance as the series 1000 snow thrower rotor has four paddles in the center to discharge the snow up the chute at the rate of 9 rotations per second at 540 RPM and the rotor paddles rotate 36 times per second if my math is correct at that speed and if you increase the rotor speed by changing the snow blower rotor gear to a smaller one the discharge rate will be faster but your ground speed will be slower with heavy snow pack and of course you could take half cuts after the first pass.

I would still see how much a Reist Series 1000 single stage with a change order for a five foot cut and the standard 13 inch snow blower rotor would cost you with shipping and the exchange rate as you could always line the chute with some blue stripe sheeting from Horn plastics OR bolt a roll up kiddee sled in the chute using elevator bolts as they have the flat flush head that will not let the snow build up in the chute.

I would compare that price with a Pronovost TRC800 and then decide which unit to invest in as they are both very high quality snow blowers and the exchange rate will save you lots of money and you will pay no sales tax as it is refunded back to you at the time of purchase if a credit card is used.
I am sure they could ship it to you using amtrak as the freight carrier to Tahoe since they have passenger service there too.

The Reist Series 1000 units have adjustable snow blower rotors that will allow you to eliminate the gap between the snow blower rotor flights and scrape it clean eliminating any buildup and that is a huge plus.

You can always add hydraulic chute rotation and spout control later to the snow thrower with no problems as the Riest Series 1000 snow thrower is designed to allow you to add these options later. the same unit can be converted to a hydraulic drive snow thrower if desired as well by removing the 3 point hitch mounting plate and installing the quick attach plate and installing the hydraulic motor and its base to the stub shaft of the gearbox.

You could always remove the rotor and line the snow blower rotor housing with the blue stripe slick sheet and never have a clog issue after.

Fluid Film, Pam...both work great in wet snow. I can't say it'll double the distance, but it'll sure minimize any clogging

You may want to refresh your pricing ..... I contacted Reist and they sent me to their Utah affiliate and I asked them what a 72" 1000 would cost with hydraulic chute and rotation, and the guy asks "are you sitting down?"..... and I am thinking.... well....maybe it's a little more expensive.... and the guy comes back and says $15k- not including shipping from Utah. Sounds like a great machine, but it's too rich for my blood. If it were around $4k, I'd consider it, but $15k is out of the question. Looks like I may take a look at the woodmax 84"

I have a DK5010HS and a Woodmaxx 72" blower. The tractor has plenty of power and the blower works great. Unfortunately I have a gear transmission and with snow depth over 14" even 1st gear is too fast. With heavy wet snows I start pushing snow and have to clear the auger housing periodically or it eventually gets clogged, plugged, and snaps a shearbolt. If you have HST and a light foot this shouldn't be an issue, or at least easier to manage.

I have zero complaints about the Woodmaxx blower considering the price. I shopped various US/Canada-made options as well and didn't see any reason to spend $2k more for basically the same unit. In fact I think the Woodmaxx has an overall better design and feature set compared to anything I saw under $4500. The Reist units that Leonz adores look nice, but would have cost me $5-6k total and I just can't see the benefit for the cost.

We get 240" or more snow per winter, so the blower gets significant use.

Blowers; too many parts, snow sticks to everything, etc. Look at front mounted HLA plows, made in Canada, and NOT a fortune, no neck ache, etc. I use one on my DK-40. See my signature for model, etc.

Have a Woodmaxx 72" on my DK5010. Have only had opportunity so far to use it once. Appears very well made and heavy duty. Have not used in wet snow yet. Was considering 84" but very glad I chose the 72" for the sake of maneuverability. If you are plowing in wide open spaces without obstacles the 84" would not be bad.
