I'm new to tractors ( I do have a 47 VAC, but that's another story) looking for something to use on 80 acres woods and grounds at a nature center. Being from Racine I wonder why there is no mentions of Case Farmall in this forum? Farmall 35c vs Kubota for instance.

You should probably start by letting people know that Racine is in Wisconsin lol.

Next, Agco as I recall owns Case and White and Massey. You'll see a bunch about Massey product and I assume some on Case. But what size range are you looking for? Many of the areas cover subcompact and an extended line of compact tractors.

Lastly . . . Case IH has a forum listed under the specific brand names grouping and right this minute there are 39 people viewing in it.

Make that CNH owns Case.

Welcome to TBN!

Case is now Case New Holland, or CNH as previously mentioned, but they are owned/controlled by FIAT, with Sergio Marchionne as the chairman. In short, it's not an American company any longer. LS and Shibaura make the compact tractors for CNH, with more models being made by LS last I knew. You can't buy the Shibaura machines directly elsewhere, but you can buy the LS machines directly from LS, often at a considerable savings....thousands of dollars usually. The one difference is that the CNH machines normally use a different loader...often with a bit higher lift height, but lower listed lift capacity.

Right now there are a lot of great sub-compact, and compact tractors being made, so you have lots of options...but that can get confusing. Nobody can argue with the quality of Deere or Kubota, but their pricing tends to be quite high. Massey Ferguson isn't quite as expensive, but puts out a great machine. New Holland and Case offer good machines, but their pricing can get confusing when the same machine with different paint/decals is available for less. Mahindra offers a lot of tractor for the money, but they source many of their models from other companies, which can get confusing, and isn't necessarily a positive if you want parts support for decades. Then you get a handful of Korean companies that are really offering a lot of tractor for the money...high quality, lots of features, and reasonable prices....Kioti, LS, TYM. Yanmar also makes a great tractor, but their dealerships seem to be far and few between.

The most important thing to do is get seat time in as many of them as possible. Something that bothers you might not bother me, and vice-versa.

We had a Shibaura-built Case IH DX35 for several years (same as New Holland TC3DA). It was a new 2005 model we bought in 2008. Dad sold it last year because we didn't use it very much on our smaller property, but it was one of the best compacts on the market in my opinion. Great features (4-range hydro with electronic range shift), flat deck, telescopic link ends, smooth engine, very solid-built tractor! One could truly use for farm or commercial use. Sometimes you'll see them for sale with 2000 to 4000 hours on them! I'm not as much a fan of the LS-built Case IH tractors, but they are growing on me. On a whim, I purchased a 2015 LS J2023 compact tractor with only 15 hours on it. Haven't used it enough to tell much, but it does appear to be pretty well-built with some nice features. As mentioned above, you can save some money buying an LS directly vs. a New Holland or Case IH branding...but I've noticed there's a few Case IH dealers out there (look up them up on Tractorhouse.com) with aging new inventory (ie. 2014 and 2015 models) who are probably willing to cut a deal. I personally like the Case IH colors and styling and have visited the Racine factory the produces the large Magnum high-horsepower tractor line. With your proximity to Racine, should be several CNH dealers to choose from.

The operator platform is flat, but not very deep, even with the seat all the way back (I'm 6'). I do like the fuel tank location...right by the RH platform step, easy to fill from ground level. And they have the twin hydro pedals which are a lot easier to use then Kubota's single treddle pedal, IMHO. On a whim, I purchased a 2015 LS J2023 compact tractor with only 15 hours on it. I really liked the old Shibaura built Farmall and New Holland Boomers. They had a lot of good features and I thought they were much nicer than the LS sourced units as they offered more standard equipment.

But I travelled to many other towns and I couldn't get an IH or NH dealer even interested to sell me one. And CNH customer service would not return any phone calls or emails. So I gave up.
They seem to only care about large ag customers.

Even when I went to Case IH dealers in my area and enquired about compacts that they even have sitting there in stock, they immediately bring you over to the Kubota's they also sell.

Luckily I found my local Kubota dealer to be really good to deal with. I think a good dealer could be more important than brand.

I have a Shibaura built NH TC40D with Supersteer that I bought new. It has been absolutely bulletproof. Love it. Lately I have been considering a cabbed tractor. Been reading a bunch. Getting cold feet when i read about issues with tier four engines and other problems with new tractors. I am sure most are ok and the problems are the only ones that gets the press. But I would really kick myself if I let my current tractor go and started having bad luck with something else. Are there any Japan built Shibaura tractors being built? I am thinking I would like to avoid turbos too (maybe for no good reason other than fewer components to potentially fail).

Planger I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 2008 Case Farmall 45 hydro with cab. It currently has 1,600 hours and has never been in the shop. I'm considering trading for a new 55hp model. I've been given a great price but I'm hesitant given all the new electronics now. Hate to trade a used tractor with zero issues for a new one that's possibly less reliable.

What make/model are you considering? If I were you, I would sit tight. Depending on make/model, moving from 45 to 55 horse won't get you much. If My TC40D were cabbed, I definitely would not be in the market.
