Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post, but I am looking for a dump trailer. Probably about 12 feet long and 7 feet wide with ramps and tie downs. Wondering what brands are good that you guys use and what to look for. I live in Rochester, NY. I haul firewood and eventually dirt and gravel. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks, Tim

You should be able to find something at a trailer dealer, especially in NY. Pronovost, Holmes, and EZ-Dumper are a few of the major brands. Pronovost are made in Canada and Holmes are made in Virginia and either have plenty of dealers in the east. EZ-Dumper's are made in PA and NY has at least 7 dealers.

I have a Dandy Dump made in Tennesee. It is 12 x 6 feet. I routinely haul 3 yards of gravel with no problem. This trailer has the bed over the wheels so it dumps higher. It would require steeper ramps though. I don't use ramps since I have another trailer for that.
If you want to spread gravel make sure it has a dual acting tailgate. My tail gate swings open and locks to the side to open up the trailer completely in the rear. When the gate is closed a and locked in place it can swing open (hinged at top) for dumping. It also came with chains to limit the swing travel for spreading. It spreads gravel so good there is little tractor work when done.

I deliver firewood in my Anderson 12k pound dumper, which I bought slightly used on eBay for about half the new retail cost. There are any number of well made dump trailer manufacturers. Around here I see a lot of Bri-Mar and EZ-Dumper. If you need it now, cruise through the local trailer dealers and compare their offerings.... just like you did for your CUT. If you're not in a big hurry, then take the time to check eBay and the want-ad listings in your area.
