Has anyone put together a reference for the cross over between Kubota BX filters and other brands? I have read on various posts of quality issues with some of the replacements that have been sold across the parts counter of Kubota dealerships. For this reason, I would like to check out all the other options for replacements before I need them for the 50 hour service. Thanks ...

Junkman,

I paid $4.65 for a Kubota engine oil filter ( part number 70000-15241) from Tractorsmart.com. Buying a non-Kubota filter, how much will you save? If you buy the rest of the filters you need for your 50 hour service, the fixed shipping cost $5, would add just a few cents to the total cost, most likely not more then the local sales tax.

But to answer your question, the last time I checked, a Wix filter number 51064 will work on the BX2200 engine.

Regards

It isn't the $$$ savings that I am looking for, but the convenience of finding them locally and possibly a better quality filter also. I know that Amzoil makes an engine oil filter and it cost a little over $10. I don't know the quality of the filter compared to the Kubota filter, but I do know that there has been a lot of discussion in the past about poor quality of OEM replacement filters in the past. I am not concerned with cost, but only quality. The cost between the least expensive and the most expensive is very little over the life of the machine. I just want to extend that life as best as I can. Best filter, best oil, frequent changes, no abuse = a HAPPY KUBOTA!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I already have spares from Kubota that hopefully I will never need for the reason that I purchased them. After reading about people impaling their hydro filter, I purchased a spare and an engine filter also in the unlikely event that I did the same...

Insofar as the BX2200 oil filter is concerned, all you have to do is buy an oil filter for a 1990 Acura Integra. At least, that's what my experience bears out.

If you want a better oil filter, you can get the Mobil 1 filters at Auto Zone. These are the only ones I know of sold at retail that are designed to last out the extended oil change periods allowed by synthetic oils (they use fiber media, not paper). They are also very very good oil filters. Not cheap, though.

Junkman, Kubota had two levels of filters available here for us a while back.. They had one that was the same quality as the Japanese originals and then they started an allegiance with Fleetgaurd filter company and has since gone to fleetgaurd for most all filters. The Fleetgaurd filters are the more reasonably priced filters that you see from the dealers now. I've seen many bad filters built and the brands do make a difference of frequency but anyone can fail.

For the sake of completeness, here are the cross-references I developed for the Purolator filters for the BX2200 (I only have personal experience with the oil fitler right at the moment):

Fuel: F54556
Oil: L14459 (get the Pure One if possible)
Trans: L25241 (get the Pure One if possible)

I DO NOT BUY FRAM FILTERS OF ANY SORT. See my post elsewhere for the reasoning behind this.

As might as I like Amsoil but $10 for a tractor filter! That is a joke. For the price the Kubota and Fleetguard are great. Does Baldwin make one that small? They are also pretty good...

ERROR! ERROR! MUST STERILIZE!

The Purolator fuel filter number below is WRONG. DO NOT USE IT!!!!!

Sorry about that, everyone.
