I am in the market for a new tractor and am considering a 2816. I haven't been able to find much info about that particular model. Any thoughts or advice?

2816 is the same as the 2615.

So I would be just as well off to buy the 2615 at a less expensive price? With the 2816, what would I be gaining other than a little more power?

I would say so. I'm not so sure you would be gaining any more power with the 2816 anyway. The only thing different would be the black paint on the frame. I think the concensus around here is, get the 2615 at the better price. The 2615 dynos out at 28-29 hp anyway, Mahindra just chose to list it a 26.

I posted a similar question a while back, and got alot of responses. I guess the general concensus among the dealers on TBN, is that the new 16 series will be pretty much identical to the 15 series, with the exception of some black paint instead of gray, and a tier 4 diesel engine instead of tier 3, a different model number, (and YES, a slightly higher price)!

Also, from what I've read on TBN, the 15 series Mahindra's rated horsepower is usually somewhat under-rated, and the 2615 probably is a 28HP thractor anyway. I'd grab the 2615, and save a buck or 2. I love my 2015.

Hey MDM, didn't mean to "echo" your post. You must have been typing the same time as me!

With all due respect guys, there is a good reason to buy the 2816 (like I just did last Friday) and that is the dealer had no 2615s, and the wife said buy a tractor. I liked a 2615 they had in the shop for service, and as luck would have it, they had just received a new 2816 in the day before I looked. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I needed to act on this "need" before I (or my wife) changed my mind. So there you have it, a good reason to buy the 2816. The 0% financing helped too.

A better question would be..."Where exactly do you find the wife that tells YOU to buy a tractor?????"

Well Driver, I am pretty lucky, she's a great wife. She likes to putz around on the tractor too. The one we traded was a 70s Allis. No power steering, brakes didn't work, super slow hydraulics, just a mess. Now she can drive this one too. As to where to find them, oh, I don't know, I guess join the military and go overseas, and get married after 3 months, and hope it works out. Worked for me a looooonggg time ago.

Actually, my wife told me to go buy one, too, but I think it was because she was tired of hearing me talk about it. And maybe she was embarrassed about me looking like 'Oliver Wendall Douglas' on my 1956 Farmall 200.

Farmall, yeah, that's the other part of it for me. She was also scared I was going to kill myself on the old one with all the issues it had. I think me talking about a new one non stop for the last few months might have worn her down some too. Whatever works!

My wife calls me "The Pinger" as in I'll talk and talk and talk about something, then keep pinging on it until I eventually wear her down  .

But I'm going to buy a tractor next week, so it works...

Nick, for what its worth, we love the new 2816. I got it with an FEL w/teeth. I wish I had checked on a backhoe at purchase and maybe got a better price, as they want $6k for it after the fact. I don't need one often, but when I do, it sure would have been nice. Oh, and I did get some truck mats and cut them to size for the foot area. Didn't want to scuff up the nice red paint. :)

Love my 2615. It's a brut. I couldn't justify a backhoe for what I 'could' use it for. I'll rent a small excavator if needed. I also wouldn't have one with a loader. I have used a lot!!
