Same Mercury 75 Farmtrac 795DTC
Hi - I am possibly considering a Kubota M7040 for sale. Looks in good shape, loader, 4wd, open station with canopy and asking 18500. 3200 hours on the machine as the ad states. I would be mainly using it for making hay, other small odd jobs and sometimes where I would need 2 4wd tractors(I deal with a lot of clay/mud in a low area). I assume it would run a NH haybine 469 and 479 no problem. I have an older square baler that it would run easily and I am not sure how it would handle a round baler. I have access to an older round baler, Gehl I believe and can make upto 4x5 bales. I am currently using an old SAME Mercury 75 (4wd w/FEL)for everything but the round baler. For the round baler, I have access to a Case 785 (2wd). Would this be a worthwhile buy? The price seems good for the tractor and I wouldn't mind a tractor that doesn't need a lot of repairs and can have easy access to parts (unlike the SAME).

7040 will run a New Holland 650. Not sure how that compares to the Gehl.

Most 4x5 balers were a 60 PTO HP min, so you should be fine.

I run a 4x4 on a M7040SU with power to spare.

A 785 is 67 PTO HP so just 3 more than a M7040. Must be an import as the 785 wasn't sold new in the US. Either way, they were a good tractor new and you can still get parts.

It may be an 885. The tractor isn't mine and I know the owner has had issues with it and doesn't care for the tractor. Here is the link for the ad of that Kubota as well:

Kubota m74 - farm & garden - by owner - sale

I Guess my real question would be, Is this a good buy assuming everything checks out? Ive priced the m7040's on tractor house and most of them are around 23 - 27k at a dealer.

885 is 72 PTO HP, still a good tractor.

The M7040 in the link looks decent, has double detent remote valves, skid steer QA on the 1153 loader. Stamped wheels so might be lighter in the back unless rears a filled. Appears in decent shape and not beat up. Price does seem good compared to what I've seen. Most used ones like that are 3/4 of a brand new one in price. I'd have to inspect in person to be sure, I am sure you will look at it.

The ROPS also looks wrong on that M7040, looks homemade, I've only ever seen folding factory rops on them. I don't see any reason to go from a factory folder to a one piece that isn't OEM? I personally don't care for the butcher job on the extra lights or the welded on handle on the loader. Seems to be overspray orange on stuff so might be shinier that it actually is.
