I have been looking at buying a new tractor for some time now. I have been thinking of the kubota b7510 because I already have a bunch of 48" implements. I then noticed a new massey at the same dealership. It is a 1428v. I liked the size of the tractor. The question I have about this tractor, Is it a better tractor than the kubota? I don't see a whole lot of info or parts info on the web about mf tractors. The dealer said he would let me have it a near dealer cost because he has had it in the showroom for 8 months. He quoted a price of 10,900. I s that about right or a fair price? Any info on this tractor would be appreciated. Thanks, gunman

I have had my 1428v two years this summer,300 some odd hrs. Not one problem. loader, rear hyd. remotes.60"rear mower,60"rear snow blower, hyd. dump wagon,72"landscape rake,and50"tiller plus more im fogeting.but the tractor has more power than you would think. I like gear drive,i grew up on a smll dairy in N.H.and had ih 544hydo,and 574gear,hydro was nise for pto work, but was gutless on tillage or hard pulling. AS far as better than kubota that is more a mind thing. What color do you like. I had a kubota and will never have another! I think red is in my blood from IH now to massey,if Case hadn't bought IH i"d probley never changed to any other brand.

Thank you for letting me know your thoughts and opinions on the 1428v. I have all but made up my mind after talking to my grandfather today. He has a 35 deluxe he bought new when he was building houses long ago. He thinks it has over 3000 or 4000 hrs. and never been rebuilt. I know it is a different tractor all together(perkins). I've tried to buy it in the past, but he said at 85yo he might need it again some day. I hope the new ones hold up as well. Again thanks, Gunman

bang bang gunman, I would have thought you would be swamped with responses by now?Everyone must be out enjoy the little break in the weather? I had responded to your inquiry last night but just before i could send it my isp dropped the connection. Any how my 2cents worth, Setting the dealer advice aside (your judgement) I like red just like grand-pa , I have a 1967 massey 135 (perkins) that just runs like the energizer bunny . Liked it so much went looking at tractors, all color tractors to buy one with a loader, but when it came to buying, the massey dealer gave the best deal and I just liked it the best but that was just my preference,so as its been said before ,A new tractor can possibly last a lifetime taken care of,so the sooner you get one the longer you'll have it to use( I like red, can you tell?) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I don't think you would regret the massey as long as its priced right

I nearly bought a 1428...it was the non-folding ROPS that didnt work out. The only things I didnt like about it were the foot throttle and glow plug indicator. The former was rather flimsey and sort of in the way...useless almost in the way it was designed. If I had bought it the foot throttle would have gotten removed. Oh, and the dealer had the loader hooked up backwards...but that was easily fixed. So, these complains are very minor...its a nice tractor for the $$.

Gunman,

I got my 1428v last Fall. I've have had no problems with it.

The price is correct. I think that is a good price.

Also I understand that they have come out with a 1428v with a hyrdo transmission. I, as others have indicated, like the manual transmission.

I have found that this tractor takes all that I throw at it and more. I use it with a 60 inch Befco mower and also a six foot blade.

I think you are going to like this tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I also looked at the 1428v. I also thought it was a nice tractor for the $. I ended up buying a different red brand with a hydro. I have little to no experience with tractors on the whole & thought the hydro was a no-brainer for me. The financing was an issue as well, at the time it was 0% for 1 year, Mahindra had 0% for 3 years. I also agree on the folding rops, I like to put it in the garage when I'm done, as well as to service it when it's cold or raining. If it fits your needs & the dealer is good, then I don't see how you can go wrong, it's seems to be a quality unit.

Hello again fellas, The 1428v rops should be low enough to clear a 7' garage door ,Also massey has the 1431 now with the 33 horse engine which comes in the 1433 , with hydro or geared w/foldable rops . The 1431 is the same size physically as the 1428 only issue with the 1431 is you might not have enough weight to use the extra horse power, and the 1431 is priced closer to a 1433 than the 1428

I really didn't think to measure the rops height, but then there are many times that I don't think.
It has been said that the Mahindra/TYM shares some components with the Massey/Iseki, I guess TYM assembles their machines out of various branded components, with little actual manufacturing(at least thats my limited understanding). I still like the 1428v but, I'm very happy with my 2810HST & thats what it's all about. Look back on this board, I think you'll find most Massey owners pleased with their machines & some owners of other brands less than pleased. If it will do what you want, you like the feel & layout of it, & the dealer treats you well, buy it. It's nice to get the new tractor feeling.

I would like to say thanks for all the input on this tractor. Oh, I'm also a new member to this site. Anyway, I just sold my old tractor Monday evening(bolens g152 3 cyl.). I really liked that tractor but I have outgrown the size and power it offered. I am going to talk to mf dealer Thursday and see what kind of deal I can get on some implements. He sells Rhino brand finish mowers. Anybody had one and would like to comment on it? Also found out that Massey will go up to 6 years on financing with a lower rate than kubota would for 5 years. I can see more equipment that I need with good financing. The rops will not be a problem for me since I park my tractor in my barn. I have a 10' x 10' door to the tractor shed. If the deal goes through I will let ya'll know. Thanks, gunman
