Hey Guys,
I currently contemplating the purchase of a Cub Cadet 7200. I really wasn't looking for this machine, as I had my heart set on a Kubota B21, but am considering this one because of price. It's a 1999 model with 224 hours. Owner is original, and a friend of mine. It doesn't have a hoe, and I figure that will cost me another $5K down the road.
He seems to think that it's a 25HP model, but all I can find on it says that it's a 20HP model.
Does $7800 sound like a fair price? It does have the FEL, but no other implements.

It's a 20 hp, is it 4WD or 2WD? That is a great price with the FEL.

It's a 4WD model, but does not have a Hydrostatic Trans. I believe it is also equipped with power steering.

Its a nice tractor, 20 hp. But take a look at Mahindra tractors, they just released the 2015 hydro, mitisubishi powered comparable to the 7205 cub cadet but the pricing is much more atractive and its red. 3yr warranty 0% financing for 3 years, 2.99% for 4 or 5 years, 4.99% for 6 years. They also have the 2615 comparable to the 7265 cub cadet.

I got a bid on a Cub this summer, with a FEL, not the same model, I think the one I looked at was one model up, and with Hydro, but the bid was $12,750 plus tax. I didn't want the FEL and the dealer didn't want to sell the tractor without it. So I ended up at the NH dealer and bought their TC24D. But I also own a Cub garden tractor and the dealer is a friend so I seriously consdiered the larger Cubs and the Cub 7200 series look like very nice tractors.

Given you are looking at a used machine, I would say you are looking at a very nice deal.

The Cub 7200 is definitely a 20 hp model. The price sounds right. Assuming that it is enough tractor to do your work, you will not regret buying a Mitsubishi-built Cub. I looked at all the colors, but chose a Cub 7360 over all of the others. I have never once regretted that decision. It has done all that I ask and has never seen a dealer since I got it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a 7265 with the Mitsubishi motor. It's my second Cub. I absolutely love it. Solid, built like a tank, no gimmicks. I think the price you quoted on the 7200 with FEL is a good one and you should be happy with the equipment.

But I must admit the reason why I own it is mostly due to the dealer. The only other dealers around here are orange and green and they didn’t seem to care if they had my business or not. The orange dealer told me up front, he would talk to me only if I was serious to buy, otherwise don’t waste his time. My Cub dealer lets me borrow used equipment on weekends to check them out. A good sales technique too. I bought a new Landpride brush hog after borrowing a used one. I’m using a PHD this weekend or next to see if it will work on my rock filled property.

My point is, although my bias is toward yellow, check out the support that’s available. I’m sure there are great orange and green dealers out there as well as lousy yellow ones. My service and support has been great from one dealer. He’ll continue to get my business, even if he decides to switch colors.

I think the dealer support is a key point. I have a NH dealer 8 miles west, a Cub/Kubota dealer 5 miles east and a JD dealer 4.5 miles east. I have a great relationship with the Cub/Kubota dealer and love my Cub garden tractor. It is build like a tank and has taken the abuse to prove it is well built. The JD dealer wouldn't talk to you if you didn't beg him for help. The NH dealer is excellent, as good as the Cub/Kubota dealer. I bought NH earlier this year because the Cub dealer didn't want to seperate the Cub on his lot from the loader he had installed on it. His price on a Kubota was way too high, and the NH dealer worked hard to make the sale.

In the case of the original posting, it sounds like the tractor may be coming via a private sale. If that is the case, then I would still check for dealer support before buying the tractor. But the 7200 is a nice little machine capable of doing quite a bit of work and lasting for another decade or two without complaining.

I owned a Cub Cadet 7200 for two years before trading it for a 7260. I would have kept both if I could have afforded it. I liked it very much, but like any other 20 HP tractor, it was not designed for the type of work I ended up getting into. It was very reliable and economical to operate. Please read my review on it for more info. Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

By the way, the price is very attractive. The hourmeter is so low, it's hardly broken in.
