It seems nice - I think the guy was asking a little much for it (over $6000)
It has a bucket and a box/tiller on the back. I am weighing the pro's and cons.

Pro - Seems to be in good shape even though this guy has only owned it 6 months and says he has done nothing to it except us it to manicure his yard.

Pro - Small size easy to manuver

Pro - guy is willing to negotiate on price

Pro - tires look good

Con - might not be big enough for our needs - we have 5 acres of sand and rocks, we want to be able to turn the compost pile (goat berries, wet hay, steer manure and sand) scrape weeds and snooth out the drive way on occasion.

I will post a picture a little later.

Also note - we are in california - it seems everything is more expensive here.

Don't be misled by the size. Those yanmars pack a lot of power in those small frames. It will handle those chores you mentioned. However, the only problem with the small tractors after a while, you are goiong to start to say "if only it was just a little bigger I could do this job faster, or reach a little higher, or push a little more dirt" And, before you know it, you are in the market for a bigger tractor (though, this phenomenom might just be me :D) Depending on your source, I found the yanmars to be well worth the money. I started with a YM2210D and pulled 5 ft implements (landpride finish mower and a boxblade). It mowed through brush twice as tall as the tractor without issues and I leveled and graded several lots. However, it was not tall enough to load my dump trailer. I upgraded to an FX32D. Now, that was a great little tractor. But, whoever refurb'd it put the on the wrong headgasket and it kept overheating. I then upgraded to a Mitsubishi MT4201D. This tractor has 50 horse packed into its compact frame. And, it puts all 50 horses to the ground. If the prices in CA are truly on the high-end then $6 is probably 'bout right. With FEL and boxblade though, $4.5-$5k is reasonable. Unless, it is an actual tiller, then $6k is fair.

the guy that is selling it bought it 6 months ago - fixed up his yard and now he is selling it. Kind of like an extended rental. I am thinking if we find that is is a little less than what we need we could always sell it again. It is a nice little machine.

I had a Yanmar 1300D many years ago and was very happy with it. I had planned to keep it and use it for a lawn mower with a 4' deck behind it, but it ended up getting coolant in the oil (I don't know why). We already had a Yanmar F16D so I didn't bother trying to fix the 1300 - I sold the unit for parts.

I don't think that my experience was typical of Yanmars (our F16D is still chugging on with over 1,000 hours on it since we got it 11 years ago and the only major thing that I had to fix was the steering gearbox). The only problem with a 1300 (or 1301) is just lack of size/weight - however, that can be a virtue if you are patient.

Price seems a bit high, but I know a loader adds a premium to a even a little tractor.

Good luck and take care.

Okay the guy who is selling the tractor really knows nothing about it. H bought it to fix up his yard - his yard is fixed up and now he wants to sell. It is clean and starts right up.
I was wondering - since it is a smaller tractor (I read 16 HP) how do I know what job would be too big for it? The bucket is obviously an add on - how do I know what it can handle?
