I'm looking for a tractor with FEL with heated and more importantly air conditioned cab in the 40 to 50 horsepower range. Well yesterday I stopped by one of the local Case/IH dealers and looked around. They had the best selection of CUT's with cabs that I've seen so far. They sold Case/IH and Kubota and I'd be comfortable buying anything from them. Anyhow, I asked to take a look at the Farmall 45 with FEL that they had on the lot, as I had already looked at the NH Boomer 3045/2320 and found it to be about the overall best fit for my needs thus far. I found out that this tractor is equipped with the CVT transmission once we opened the cab and I hopped inside. This was without question the most comfortable cab with the most legroom that I've been in. It's pretty much the same as the NH product but it had the sweet CVT tranny. This was the most carlike transmission that I've seen on a tractor and this one would be perfect if I ever wanted my wife to drive it. The only problem was... the price. $38,200 for the tractor FEL combo. It's just out of my price range for now. So it looks like I'll be getting a tractor later than sooner so that I can save up some more to keep payments where I want them or I'll have to pick another tractor. Anyhow, I just wanted to give my opinion to anyone in the market for one of these beauties. It's a very nice, simple, comfortable tractor which should make anyone happy.

I've been looking at this tractor with the hydro tranny. The cab is the selling point with me. I have not had a chance to look at one with a CVT. How do you shift from forward to reverse, is it similar to a Hydro?

Shifting from forward to reverse is actually more similar to a power shuttle type transmission. There is a shuttle lever with Forward - Neutral - Reverse on the left side of the steering column. You simply put the shuttle in the direction you want to go and give it some fuel with the pedal on the right. You select from one of three gear ranges with a toggle switch on the left fender. There are a few other switches which I wasn't sure what they did on the left fender as well and the dealer wasn't totally familiar with everything yet either as they literally just received the tractor. I'm pretty sure that you don't have to come to a complete stop to switch to forward and reverse, similar to a hydro, but there's only one (single direction) pedal. There's no clutch to worry about or anything of that nature either. It's really the closest thing to driving a car that I've used in a tractor. If the tractor was just a little less, I'd likely have written a check for a deposit on the spot. It really is that nice.
