Log Splitter Hydraulic Cylinder Repair

I sprang a leak the other day in my log splitter. It drips very little on the splitting stroke and a lot more on the return. The cylinder needs to be rebuilt. The problem I'm having is that the splittler is at least 20 years old and the cylinder doesn't have any markings on it.....manufacturer, size, nothing. I don't even know the original manunfacturer of the entire splitter itself. I've never rebuilt a cylinder myself, but am thinking about giving it a shot if I can find the parts. Can anyone recommend someone in the Ashland, NY (in the Catskills, near Hunter and Windham) area that would be able to identify the cylinder and get the parts for me?

Is there something special about it? Most are 4x25's and they're cheap (as far as cylinders go)...

yep I've seen them in the $125.00 $150.00 range.

The thing is that it's an odd cylinder. The bottom is flat and bears against a bracket and the top is threaded into the traveler, or whatever you want to call the thing that slides along the beam and pushes the wood into the wedge. I suppose that I could modify the mounts, but the cylinder is in great shape, aside from the seals of course, so I think re-building it would be the easiest way out.
