I think I am getting to old to lift big wood to split, so I made an attachment to fit into the 3pt hitch to move wood around and to set it on the splitter when in the vertical position. Here are some pictures.

Mornin Harley,
Hey thats a great idea ! I just got me a splitter and was wondering about a good way to move the bigger bones over to the splitter !

Thanks !

I'm not sure how old you are, but I am 35 and I think I was too old to try to move that one 10 years ago.:) :)
Craig

By the way, I like the idea. I may have to copy it.

Oh the agony. I rolled several rounds like that to the splitter this year. They sat 36" tall and if they tipped over before getting to the splitter then you needed a second guy to help lift them back up on their edge.

I got pretty good at aiming the falling round so that it would end up on the splitter when it tipped. Then of course, the splitter wouldn't split a round that wide so I would have to use the maul to finish it off. Then roll the halves around to make quarters and then split each quarter into half a dozen large chunks.

Craig, well I'll be 55 this year but after splitting some of these big ones I feel much older.
Highbeam, I tried the roll over and drop on the foot but I never had much luck with that, bad aim? I can related to not getting them to split from one side, this cherry was really tough, it would leave strings on most pieces so I had this big mess of almost loose pieces flopping around until I could get it to seperate into managable size. I used the forks to load a trailer with the big chunks for a friend and that worked good too. Here is the last of the big wood from that site.
