Having some fuel flow problems. Tractor is a T474 and fuel tank is at the rear of the tractor and mounted high, just under the windows.

Cleaning up a water in fuel issue and working through the fuel system. Question is, does anyone know the location of the fuel flow solenoid on these tractors, or TYM design preferences?
Thanks

The shutoff solenoid? That's located in the back of the injection pump. Follow about the only wires going there.

The fuel shut off valve for the tank should be located on the fuel filter housing in front of the radiator. At least from looking at some online videos and pictures.

This evening I re-read your response again. Second guessing the item, the device with a manual, hand operated valve may have been the (mechanically activated) fuel pump. There is a manual lever located on the side that can be turned 90* and probably is the tank shut off you mentioned. Agree that the only sensible place to put the solenoid that controls the engine operation should be at the pump where the switch response would be immediate for a change in position.

The hose from the tank to that device was disconnected at the inlet of the device with a full tank of diesel, cap removed. Nothing but a dribble....by the drop coming out. Attempting to blow out any movable obstruction I suggested he hook 15 PSI on the air hose to the hose going back to the tank and no results, and no indication whatsoever at the open tank fill port with diesel at the top where any pressure change in the tank could be seen.

So I told the owner that it appears that the problem is a clog in the area discussed. Once the problem is found, the working fuel in and air out all the rest of the way to finally cracking the injectors should produce a running engine. Only time will tell.

Side note. After workin on it I contacted him and he said he was headed to town for some parts....betcha it was to the tool store to get some tools that would allow him to get down into the tight area where the fuel line to injector connections are located......I would if it were me in his shoes...we'll see when we get back at it.
