I had my farm jeep at this show. It had been a great show in a very nice farming community and this is bound to have an impact on both. We all need to be careful out there.

GREENSBURG An elderly Henry County man died several hours after suffering head injuries Sunday afternoon at the Decatur County Fairgrounds.

John C. Hubbell, 76, was steering his 1971 Case tractor onto a trailer as it was pushed by another antique tractor driven by his son. The two farm vehicles, which had been on display at the Power of the Past machinery show, were connected by a sway bar and hitch pin.

But when the sway bar shifted, the right front wheel of Hubbell痴 tractor came off the trailer. After Hubbell jumped off, he landed on his head and was knocked unconscious, according to Decatur County Sheriff痴 Lt. Robert Duckworth.

Hubbell was not breathing when emergency responders arrived. Paramedics performed CPR and temporarily resuscitated him.

The Lewisville resident first was taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital following the 1:23 p.m. accident. He was later transferred by LifeLine helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Hubbell was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m. Sunday, according to the Marion County Coroner痴 office.

I have been to that show also. So sad to hear. It seems like someone gets hurt every year around here at the Portland Tractor Show. I believe its the biggest tractor show in the US.

I'm thinking that pulling it onto the trailer with a come-along would have been a better option. Very unfortunate accident.

I had a tractor there also. Very sad news. This can be a dangerous hobby. Our prayers are with the family. Chuck Heck

sad to hear.

I see LOTS of people load non running tractors by pushing with another. IMHO.. I've seen / heard of WAY too many accidents that way.

I much prefer to use a hot battery and a starter if possible to load a non starting rtractor.. OR winch / come-along one up vs a push.. not enough control with 2 people doing the work like that.
