First of all thanks for the people who put this board together. I have learned a lot in a short time by reading posts here.
I’m in the market for a new compact tractor. I’ll need it for finish mowing on 10 rather flat acres (Kansas) and general ditching and driveway maintenance. I’m shopping in the 35-45hp range. Both the Jimna and the Kama are on my list as options. I will be building my house next year and intend to use the loader with forks to assist with building along with building the roadbed for a 500ft driveway. Obviously a bigger loader will be helpful. When looking at the specs the 190 is a obvious choice. But the 190 loader cannot be mounted on anything smaller than the 40HP tractor. Weight is not an issue. It is my thought that more weight will help while building the driveway. I’m figuring that the first year I’ll put a couple of hundred hours on it and after the house is built only a hundred or so a year.
My intentions were to keep my budget around 15K.
Here is my question: Is there a reason that I will need the extra capacity of the larger tractor and loader? Will it be worth the extra money?
The TS35 with a Koyker 160 loader comes in at 10800.
The JM4020 Jimna with 190 loader comes in at 13900.
The KM454 with 190 loader comes in at 13500.
And another $1300 or so for a good quality 6ft finish mower.
Around $1500- 1600 for a good 18ft trailer to haul the whole thing on small jobs.
I will be able to pick up a good box blade and grading blade at an auction nearby at a reasonable price sometime.
Koyker 160 specs:
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 1480 lbs.
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1100 lbs.
Lift Height Under Level Bucket 7 ft. 10 in.
Koyker 190 specs:
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 2470 lbs.
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height 31.5" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1610 lbs.
Lift Height Under Level Bucket 8 ft 11 in.
1000 extra pounds and a extra foot sounds like a lot of difference. But at a $2700 cost?
I have one other quick question too. The TS35 does not have rear remote capability. (without putting on a spool valve) The KM454 and 4020 both have dual rear remotes. Why would I need these and would that help me make a decision as to upgrading tractors? The only thing I can think of that I would use it for would be a wood splitter I have access to. But I'm sure once I have a tractor with the capability, I would find something I would have to have them for.
OK… I know that was long but give me your honest opinions. I’m willing to learn from those of you that have gone through this and have recommendations.
