First of all thanks for the people who put this board together. I have learned a lot in a short time by reading posts here.

I’m in the market for a new compact tractor. I’ll need it for finish mowing on 10 rather flat acres (Kansas) and general ditching and driveway maintenance. I’m shopping in the 35-45hp range. Both the Jimna and the Kama are on my list as options. I will be building my house next year and intend to use the loader with forks to assist with building along with building the roadbed for a 500ft driveway. Obviously a bigger loader will be helpful. When looking at the specs the 190 is a obvious choice. But the 190 loader cannot be mounted on anything smaller than the 40HP tractor. Weight is not an issue. It is my thought that more weight will help while building the driveway. I’m figuring that the first year I’ll put a couple of hundred hours on it and after the house is built only a hundred or so a year.
My intentions were to keep my budget around 15K.

Here is my question: Is there a reason that I will need the extra capacity of the larger tractor and loader? Will it be worth the extra money?

The TS35 with a Koyker 160 loader comes in at 10800.
The JM4020 Jimna with 190 loader comes in at 13900.
The KM454 with 190 loader comes in at 13500.
And another $1300 or so for a good quality 6ft finish mower.
Around $1500- 1600 for a good 18ft trailer to haul the whole thing on small jobs.
I will be able to pick up a good box blade and grading blade at an auction nearby at a reasonable price sometime.

Koyker 160 specs:
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 1480 lbs.
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height 19.7" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1100 lbs.
Lift Height Under Level Bucket 7 ft. 10 in.

Koyker 190 specs:
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height At Pivot Pin 2470 lbs.
Lift Capacity To Maximum Height 31.5" Forward Of Pivot Pin 1610 lbs.
Lift Height Under Level Bucket 8 ft 11 in.

1000 extra pounds and a extra foot sounds like a lot of difference. But at a $2700 cost?

I have one other quick question too. The TS35 does not have rear remote capability. (without putting on a spool valve) The KM454 and 4020 both have dual rear remotes. Why would I need these and would that help me make a decision as to upgrading tractors? The only thing I can think of that I would use it for would be a wood splitter I have access to. But I'm sure once I have a tractor with the capability, I would find something I would have to have them for.

OK… I know that was long but give me your honest opinions. I’m willing to learn from those of you that have gone through this and have recommendations.

Hi Heath,

Although we sell both Jinma (Farm Pro) and KAMA, I have not sean a 40HP JInma. I can tell you that the KAMA 454 offers, wet disk brakes, constant mesh trans and a rugged overall design. The engines are very solid in theKM series, good machine work, according to the manual they are an isuzu design. This tractor has been in production for a number of years.

The 30-35HP size is plenty to run a 6' finish mower, and can be fitted with turf tires if needed, the KM is not available with turfs, don't know about the Jinma tire options on that size frame.

The KM454 actually uses a Koyker 195 loader, not the 190.

Locad dealer support can add value and shoudl be factored in. If you ahve more specific questions, just pm me or call me at ARTRAC. 479)885-3267.

Yup.... your on my hit list of dealers to call. I wanted to get a little further with my investigating first. Guess you could say I'm still tire kicking right now.

I've only seen the 4020 farm pro at a distance, I didnt get a chance to open the hood and look at it close. It appeared to be the new LE style.

Can the 160 loader be put on the 25hp also? And the Koyker web site lists a 1.75" cylinder and a 2" cylinder, which is the common one installed? I'm going to assume its the smaller, but how much would it cost to upgrade to the slightly larger cylinders?
And is the quick detachable bucket standard with Koyker? I'm thinking the pallet forks would be a nice thing to have while building the house. Bucket forks are ok but hard to see when working alone. I busted a few things when I was growing up with the bucket style forks.

Sorry about all the questions. The price jump from the 35 to the 45 is really getting me. Since I'm starting out new I'm trying to keep this all on a budget. I'm sure many people think that the price of the tractor is the only cost and then forget about the extras.
PTO shafts, good binders and chains, trailer to haul, ect....

As always thanks for the input Chip.

I'm looking forward to your call Heath, when the time comes, we are very competitive when it comes to price and still maintain a good parts inventory. You are not as far from us as many of our customers.

The 40HP farm pro is not JInma but foton, I hope to have a couple of those in stock this month, I'll know more then.

The 160 loader is fine on the TS254C KAMA, the chassis of this tractor is the same as teh TS354C so it is a heavy built 25HP tractor. While the jinma must use 1.75" cyl, the KAMA can use 2" but I prefer the 1.75 for faster loader operation.

There is no cost difference.

There is as much difference in the price of the loader used between the 35 and 45 as there is in the tractor price, this is why it is such a jump.

quick attach bucket is optional on either loader, pallet forks are available in pin on or quick attach.

I bought the KAMA 454 with the 195 loader from Chip. Love it.

He is a good dealer and often post here to help us 'new guys'

I'm glad I went with the extra HP with the KAMA 454. I also went with the 6' bucket.
