Loader snow plow problems

/ Loader snow plow problems #11
I can attest to the fact that the A-frame needs to be parallel to the ground for even contact of the cutting edge throughout the angle motion.

I modded a Myers truck plow to be frame mounted to my tractor and did not pay much attention to the importance of the A-frame's orientation with the ground. Found out quickly, even though it was not to far off it would not scrape clean on the close side when angled. Had to lower the back of the A-frame 2-3 inches and all was better.

If your leading edge is digging in, then you need to lower the rear of the A-frame like me, mine was not digging in cause I was on hard surface, so my close side was off the ground a little.

dont mean to hyjack the thread, but im going to be using my loader mounted front snow plow for the first time this winter, and i had assumed that i was to leave it in the float position. Is this NOT correct? I have hydraulic rotator and skid shoes.

You will have to have it in float, unless you will be on near perfectly level, smooth surface. other wise the plow will not follow the contour of the ground being 4-5 feet out in front of the machine.

The only time you wouldn't use float would be to scrape down an area with extra down pressure, (you will have no steering of course at that time) or when you want to push the tops of the pile back with the plow x number of feet off the ground.

OP is using a chain float similar to a regular truck mount, but attached to the loader, as someone mentioned he needs to get an indicator or stop so when he lowers the loader it hits the sweet spot for the A-frame/ground orientation.
