Curious on thoughts, mounting a snow plow on loader arms. With ssqa, so convenient and all, but who'd be concerned it would put a strain on the loader arms with the side loading from the angled blade?

Plenty of people do it but make sure it has trip springs. My neighbor put a 7' snow plow blade without any trip protection on his Deere and hit a piece of ledge with the edge of the blade. People will tell you that you can bend a cylinder. He didn't. He destroyed his spool valve for his loader ($1400) as the shock went right back up the hose and cracked the cast iron housing. He hasn't used the blade since.

Trip springs and a cross-over relief valve.Have been running a FEL mounted snow plow for ten years.

The only damage that I have seen was on a larger Puma using a 12 foot pusher that slammed into a curb at high speed on one side only,
something about 18-20 mph and the blade didn't go over the curb twisted everything sideways and back.
Pea poor operator on a tractor that wasn't his.

Guys, I'm talking about it mounted on a sub compact tractor loader, with the appropriately sized loader arms. Kubota L4240, that's a bigger tractor, beefier loader arms and all that.

And the smaller tractor runs a smaller blade and the bigger tractor runs a bigger blade, so it all comes out pretty much = IMO.
I've been running a 9' blade on my 35HP tractors loader for years with no issue.

Only issue I have had on two loaders is the blade pushing the loader all over the place on icy roads, as the weight of the blade isn't much to begin with and even less on the machine when floating.

In fact, my latest spring trip edge blade is the worst for this. The edge trips and immediately sends the machine sideways.

Kubota offers a factory ssqa mount blade fr the BX series tractors.

I have had no issues with a fel mounted ssqa blade on my larger tractor. The blade trips, and has a crossover relief valve. As previously mentioned, scuts are paired with smaller blades and also have less weight behind them.
Careful operation goes a long way in snow removal.

My recollection is that this issue has come up several times and no one seems to know of a situation where the plow damaged the loader arms. As others have noted, a proper sized plow and trip springs are a must. If you can frame mount it, it's better not because of danger to the arms but because you get less side thrust on the tractor and the whole unit is much shorter, making it easier to maneuver. On my 24 hp tractor, I have a 6'-4" blade frame mounted so it just clears the front wheels when angled and it works very well.
