Kubota L2850 4wd
Just bought a used l2850 with a Bf 500 loader on it. I would like to remove the loader for a short time but am unsure of the procedure. I see there are 2 support arms snapped in a clip on the left loader arm but have no idea where they are supposed to be placed and there are also 2 removeable pieces going arm to arm directly above the steering wheel that look like supports but maybe are just removable to clear the exhaust when backing away from loader. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I got this with no books or manuals. Thanks to all who reply....

Visa,
I could tell you how my B2150's FEL manual tells you how to do it, or I could tell you how my B2910's manual tells you how to do it. But as there are differences between my B2150 and my B2910, there are probably differences between my FEL and yours.

Kubota has priced their operater's manuals at a very reasonable price. Parts and shop manuals are expensive, however. I recommend that you order an operator's manual from your nearest Kubota dealer. Should be in the $15 - $20 range, if not cheaper. The manual may even be in stock.

The manual would be useful for other things beyond FEL removal and replacement, such as routine maintenance, part numbers, etc.

These 2 arms come off and are hooked onto the sides of the bucket but you first must remove the 2 bolts that hold the front part of the fel to the sub frame. These bolts have a handle on them so they can be removed by hand (good Luck) but they always seem to be stuck so a hammer and pipe wrench and some lube may be needed. Once these are removed they are used to hold the arms to the bucket.
Next the wedge bolts that hold the fel to the main frame must be removed (make sure bucket is on ground before removing bolts). Once bolts are removed slowly raise bucket. At this point the back part of fel should raise of of thier purches while teetering on front part of the fel frame. If this does not happen then you may have to bang on the rear frame to get it to come loose.
Once rear frame is 10 inches or so off their purches ( 2 support arms snapped in a clip on the left loader ) install these arms in the square holes on the back uprights. Now let bucket down so that these legs are on the ground and just enough so that the front frame is a couple inches above sub frame.
Turn tractor off and disconect 3 hoses. Pressure hose on tractor should be plugged back into PBY coupler to complete curcuit. Now you can back out of fel.

Just my 2 cents,
After I get my FEL disconected hardware wise and before I disconect the hoses I curl the bucket and lower the bucket all the way. This puts the "bare" metal of the hydro pistons inside.

Thanks Art. Actually I work at a Kubota dealership also. I am a mechanic so I get to remove these loaders a couple times a month.

Jackncoke... Reading your description of how to take a loader off a 2850 sure makes me appreciate how easy it is to remove and install the loader on my BX2200. It is a five-minute job, no binding, no pounding and no sweat. The engineer that designed the loader attach system on the BX2200 deserves a gold star. I hope they use the same system on all of the newer Kubotas.
