LS R3039H
My dealer and I learned something.Took my R3039H in for a hydraulic leak at the factory remote valves. It was a blown o ring. Dealer fixed the tractor under warranty. He called the factory rep and explained what failed. The rep asked if the loader was off the tractor. It was. The reason for the failure is this. With the loader removed from the tractor, the loader control lever must be locked so it does not move. Locking is accomplished with the little lever on the loader control at the bottom rear of the loader control. Pushing in or out locks and unlocks the loader control. If the loader control is moved with the loader disconnected, full hydraulic pressure is sent to the remote valve assembly and blows o rings.
So when disconnecting the loader BE SURE TO LOCK THE LOADER CONTROL BEFORE STARTING THE TRACTOR. keep it locked until thr loader is reconnected! :mur: :mur:
This could have been construed as operator error and not a warranty repair. The dealer never brought it up and fixed it as a warranty repair with a big smile. Thanks to the dealer and LS!

Good tip! I'm actually glad to hear it was just an oversight, not a design problem....and that the dealer and LS were cool about it.

punkn,

Let me ask you this.

I am assuming the loader valve stays with the tractor, and I understand the valve lock purpose.

What is the difference if you had QD on the work ports and the loader was removed, and you operated the valve. The valve relief would try and relieve the pressure.

Now, the loader is connected and you move the lever to fully extend the cyl, and the relief valves then relieves.

What is the difference. The relief valve is working like it should.

What seals and where. Are you talking spool seals.

If the loader valve is the priority valve, and the valves relieves, the relieved fluid should be going to tank., unless the loader valve does not have a PB port.

With the loader valve locked, the fluid is just flowing through the loader valve.

I don't see where there is any pressure, as it is a hyd component that develops the pressure and the fluid passing through is just GPM's.

If it blew an o-ring in the remote valve, which one.?

I have a R3039H. The explanation of the failure just did not make any sense to me either.

I've attached schematics of the hydraulic system from my tractor and loader manual. (Yes they are not very good!)

With the loader hoses disconnected, operating the loader valve (still on the tractor) should only cause pressure relief through the system RV.

Am I missing something?

You both have excellent points. I have been working to finish a few projects before we hit the road for a month and hadn't given it a thought. I will call the dealer to get the factory explanation. :mur: :mur:
