Hi All. I'm brand new to the forum, and also pretty new to compact tractors.
I'm looking at buying a John Deere 650 that is coming with a tiller and 3 pt blade.
I'd like to also put a loader on this machine for doing some landscaping around our acreage.
My father in-law has a Ford 1510 with a loader, and he said he'd give me the loader, as he doesn't use it.
Would anyone be able to tell me if this could fit the JD 650 without too much trouble?
Any other tips you could offer would be more than welcome.
Thanks!

If you are a good welder/fabricator then yes, if not then no. Also bear in mind that if this tractor does not have power steering then having a loader will increase steering effort, and with a full load in the loader it will increase even more. Power steering is not a kit that can be purchased any longer for this tractor if it does not already have. Other loader options are companies like farm king/buhler, ezee on, woods, etc etc. They can most likely provide bolt on loaders that won't require mod's. Good luck.

It would be much easier to trade tractors...

If I were OP, I would bite the bullet and spend the money to a get tractor with a loader on it. That way you will have a tractor with a loader that was designed for it, so they should work well together and most likely it will be a quick attach design. It seems like most of the do it yourself loaders that I see are not quick attach. I don't know what your skill set is with welding/fabbing and what sort of metal working equipment you have, but imo it's not a "simple" task, for the average do-it-yourselfer. On top of all this.... before you buy that little 18HP JD 650, call a John Deere dealer and ask him what type of hydraulic controls you will need to add a loader to it, and how much it will cost (making an assumption here that it's not already set up with a selective control valve). I think that alone will be enough to deter you. Or, find yourself a Ford 1510 WITHOUT a loader and and just trade tractors with your F-i-L!!
