Front-End Loader Loader for Ford 1700

I have a great little Ford 1700 tractor and I want to put a loader on it. Other than the OEM 770 a&b (which seem hard to come by) does anybody know of other mfgrs. & models that will fit my little gem? I am in western NY If you actually have one for sale please speak up. Thanks in advance.

My guess is you are going to have to buy a new loader. Here is a company that makes great loaders. Use the search to find what you need.

I have a Westendorf on my 1900. There are plenty of manufactures that make loaders that will fit. You can find a used on off a different tractor and contact the Mfg. to see if they have brackets for that loader for the 1700. Do you have power steering?

No I don't have power steering, I have rather dry land so I really haven't had any steering issues. I have read of power steering upgrades thou.

I looked at koykers web site and they dont list a model for the 1700, only the 1710. Do you know if it's the same attachment> thanks for the reply.

What I am getting at is, with a FEL and a bucket of dirt you are going to have a lot of weight on the front end making it hard to steer with out PS.

You can add the FEL without adding PS, but you might be a bit dissatisfied with the way it operates/performs after doing it. Imho, power steering is almost a req't to make tight turns with a loader bucket full of material.

You can call Koyker to Confirm but I think it's the same loader, the ones we put on the tractor did not have power steering either, this is a small loader so you may be OK

The sticker shock for the loader may get you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

power steering is nice w/ a loader, but you don't NEED it. we had a big ole 1950's case (600 series i think) w/ a big ole loader. no PS. it was a bear to steer, but not too bad as long as you were moving. you had to learn to 'pre-steer' while traveling in one direction (reverse for example) to set you up to be turning the correct way when you changed to go forward. if you weren't moving, you weren't steering!

Had a 4WD 1700 with a front loader from 1980 until last fall. Can't tell how many times I loaded and overloaded the bucket in tight spaces. No problem without power steering. Turn when moving, brake one back wheel for a tighter turn. Actually I am finding my new JD 3005 gets stuck in the mud easier, because with the power steering I tend to get the front wheels a little too crosswise too easily.

Another point about ford 1700 tractors and front loaders. They were originally built with too weak of a front axle. If you had a front loader you would typically break them in a few years and the replacement part was built heavier. I broke mine at about 4 and 6 years right and left respectively. Had no further problems for the remaining 20 + years of ownership. Since you have an old tractor now, with presumably the original light duty axles you may run into this trouble. No big deal since I suspect new axles are readily available but probably cost a bunch more that the couple of hundred I paid in the 1980's.

No I haven't found one yet, I see many 770's out of state. I guess I'm in no particular rush. I wish I could come up with some other Mfg. models that would work on my 1700, this would broaden my search.
