Here's a picture of my new tractor sinking its teeth into some New Hampshire granite.

Nice looking tractor Spiny. Those FELs make overgrown rocks seem like pebbles don't they. Just moved a few myself. G

SpinyMouse,
Nothing like the smile of a new 3054XS. Even my wife is impressed with all the Lucille will do. Beautiful tractor and welcome to the pack.

Spinymouse, did you ever try the loader without the toothbar? If so, you know how much difference it makes. Looking great. John

Re: LK3054XS\'s First Chew Toy

Actually, I've only tried it without the toothbar in the dealer's dirt pile. It worked fine in that dump truck load of loose dirt. But the soil I intend to move at my home is full of rocks and is compacted by years of sitting, with all manner of weeds, pricker bushes, and a few saplings growing in it. The toothbar just seemed to make sense if I wanted to be able to penetrate and loosen that tough stuff. Plus, I need to move lots of big rocks, many larger than the one in the picture. I wanted the toothbar to make the bucket more rigid to help avoid bending or warping it. That's also why I got a 54" bucket instead of the standard 60" one.

Hey, nice looking tractor! You're going to love that thing, I couldn't be happier with mine. I'm gonna have to look into a tooth bar one of these days too.

like the idea of the toothbar - the added rigidity is ideal, plus it makes the work you're doing easier (i think!).

can i have my local dealer put this on?

i'm also in NH, and have the same task you have:

restoring lots of old fields with rocks and small saplings everywhere.

You should be able to have a dealer install the toothbar, but it's really easy to do. You only need to drill two holes, one in each end of the bucket, the size of the bolts. Usually, they are 1/2, 3/4 or 1" bolts. Many posters have mentioned that their dealers didn't seem to know anything about toothbars, so you may have to educate them. If your dealer sells Woods, he can find theirs under skid steer attachments. John

Re: LK3054XS\'s First Chew Toy

Here's another picture of my tractor gnawing on some small rocks a few days ago. Today, I moved one that required chain to hold it in the bucket. (My dealer welded two chain grab hooks on the top of the bucket.) Moved it with little problem. Just went real slow, using first gear and low range the whole way. I had to use a six foot slate bar to pry it into the bucket, using the teeth for leverage with the bar at one point. Too busy to take a picture of that one...

Dave at Upper Valley Tractor in Enfield knows about toothbars. If your dealer doesn't quite know what you want, contact KiotiDave.

Here's another picture taken the same day. The rocks in the background are about the size of the one I moved today.
