LK 3054 instrument cluster

My instrument cluster seems to be acting up. at first i thought it was just a bad fuel sender as the gauge started reading half tank most of the time. Recently ith discharge light stays on for hours at a time even after i confirmed that the alternator is working. Does anybody have any advice on this issue. I dont want to replace the cluster unless i need to as a last resort

The wiring diagram leaves a lot to be desired, but it does show a wire coming from the voltage regulator that connects to the cluster. Most likely there's circuitry in the regulator that turns on the idiot light.

The gas gauge in mine acts weird sometimes, especially just after I've filled the tank...it takes a good 10 min or so before the gauge shows full.
