ideal situation, makes one wonder what life must have been like 500 -1000+ yrs ago. Don't get me wrong I do eat venison but I also have a huge respect for wild life. Actually the older I get the more I'd rather watch then hunt, but there is this thing called "the circle of life."

Just do what they r doing, put food out and you will get lotsa critters. Not any different I guess than putting feeders out to attract them for hunting. I like my venison too but don't usually shoot any around the house so I can watch them although I don't put food out as I think it makes them less able to make it on their own. I know the foxes that my kids would semi adopt (as in feed n pet a bit) would never seem to be around the next year.

Every time I see this, I think of the guy in Monroe Louisiana who had a pet buck that he kept pinned and fed daily petted etc. Then one day during the fall when deer are normally in rut, he attacked his owned and killed him without provacation. Wild animals are still wild animals and respond to sexual stimulation in varied ways. When we lived in Canada, we were constantly warned by posters, word of mouth etc. to beware of the semi tame elk that wandered the towns. More people are killed by Elk than bear. They can go off for not reason when the get enough of your hindrance. Sure hope nothing like that happens to these folks.

I agree with Gary F. I don't really like to see people interact with wild life like this. I think it makes people "feel good" about things, but its not doing the deer any favors.

we had a brown bear foraging around the area and the crazy lady across the street started feeding it right outside her door!! the game warden had to give her a taking to.:confused2:

lol silly hippies, they even had a pyramid. Some people. I would have a freezer full of meat and a racoon hat if that was my place.

I live out in the country and have a few food plots and licks for the deer but they know it comes at a price this year I took 2 does and let there 5 youngsters go so next year I will have 5 potential meat bags.

Exactly what I was thinking as I read this. I knew someone in a very similar situation, though he was only injured, not killed, by the rutting buck.

I also found out that deer love the scent of unburned pipe tobacco. They would nose around in his coat pockets until he gave them some. :licking:
