I inquired on this site if my Massey Ferguson GC1715 25HP tractor could pull a JD7000 4 row corn planter. Well, I went ahead and bought the planter, and gave it a shot. I hooked up the hydraulic ram on the planter to the hydraulic lines on the tractor that run the FEL, which required a 5' hose extension, and the proper connectors. I was very impressed with the little tractor, as it was able to pull the planter (while planting) with ease.

If you've ever looked at 2 row corn planters, you know that they are not cheap, especially these JD7000 units. You can pick up a 4 row planter for much less money than the 2 row units, and get the job done twice as fast.

I would think the John Deere and Kubota tractors of the same or similar HP could also pull a 4 row planter.

Now that's what I'm talking about. A Massey tractor owner with no fear. You probably just ran up the price on 4 row planters. I thought this was a close kept secret. LOL.

Are you sure that the planter is not pushing the tractor?:D

Some people are followers, others are trendsetters. :) I'm betting a bunch of big corn farmers are gonna run out and buy one of those little MF tractors so they can save on diesel. The OP has now got me wondering if my little 22hp Craftsman lawn tractor will pull it?? Might have to beef up the hitch on it lol.

Well done. The little tractors can do a lot more work than some people want to believe.
