Lift pump

My FX24D has been doing some crazy things on and off for the past year. Losing power, especially when cutting on a steep grade, then coming back strong on the level. Odd little misses and power losses. Been chasing it for nearly a year.

Knew it was fuel related and finally this week it became consistent. I have a Fuel Lift Pump. Well the tractor does anyway, and it is flat not pumping.

System works like this: 1) Gravity feed to pump; 2) Pump lifts fuel to filter; 3) Injector pump picks up fuel from filter, 4) Excess goes back to tank. After filling the filter housing, I can watch it empty, then tractor falter as fuel reaches bottom of filter. Pump must pick up just enough to keep it barely running, but not enough to fill the filter housing once emptied.

First time I've seen this mentioned on here. Anyone have a newish Yannie with pump?

Don, is it the round one about 2 1/2" wide and it plugs right into the side?

I think I have an extra one from a 24 parts machine I used to have.

That's the one, Ernie. I have a request in to 1Danny, so if he can't get it for me I will be giving you a call. Been a long time since we talked.

Well, Danny (1Danny) came through with the new pump. Only took @ 10 minutes to put on. Tractor has full fuel pressure. Now it leaks at the fuel filter housing nipples. They are loose, spin and I found one nearly backed out. So now I need a fuel filter housing. It's like fixing plumbing in an older home. I just keep working my way further back from the tank.

Anyone have a fuel filter housing for the FX24D?

Don, all the dealers on here sell them, they dont cost that much.

Hi, Ernie. Danny has come through again. The one on the FX24Ds with a lift pump have three nipples, IN/Out/Overflow. Not quite as common as some.

Now I wait for this to come in, and then diagnose the next leak.
