Lift Chatter

Yesterday I was hauling some logs out of the woods with my DK35. When I lifted the log end with the 3 pt hitch to the top of the lift capacity I got a chattering from the middle of the tractor, ( I assume that's where the pump is). The chattering caused vibration in the FEL hoses and joystick, as soon as I let the 3 pt down about 6 inches the chattering stopped. Anyone have any idea what was going on?

My first guess would be low hydro fluid. The FEL was probably up a bit while moving which would use some of the fluid from the sump. Lifting the 3pt uses some more. Being that yours is a gear and not hydro drive, you wouldn't notice anything with forward motion. I have a CK30hst and the stick has two marks for the hydro fluid range. I keep mine at the high mark but also check it with the FEL and 3pt down. That way, I don't get into an overfill situation.
My second guess would be the hydro filter. If not changed for a while and possibly getting plugged, it would be starving the system for fluid.
You didn't mention how the FEL responds. Any problems there? That may help separate a hydro pump or 3pt situation.

VIctor, thanks for the response, The fluid level was almost at the top of the dipstick range. It could be the filter, I'm at about 180 hours and it's almost time for a filter replacement. The FEL worked fine even with the chatter.

Where was your draft control? If it was anywhere mid position it could cause the chatter............
