Greeting,

New to owning my first hydrostat and it came equipped with the linked pedal feature. Its always been my understanding with Hydro's to run at your optimal RPMs (24K) to get the most performance out of the hydro system.

The linked pedal I believe changes that for some applications. For loader work, it seems like the linked pedal is the way to go, set RPMs at 15K and link the pedal, if more lift, push etc is needed, it will rev up. For PTO implement use or dragging a grader or box blade, I would assume running without the linked pedal is the right way to go.

Just curious to what everyones thoughts are on RPMs, linked pedals and what is the best way to operate my new tractor.

First, its only 2400 RPM or 2.4K RPM :)

2400 RPM is probably for correct PTO RPM. For Hydro use 1800-2400 is fine depending on the work you're doing. Many of the motors with emissions equipment need to run in that RPM range to run as clean and efficient as possible for reduced regens.

I’ve never used a LS auto throttle but my Kubota has it and I don’t like it at all and keep it turned off. It works backwards of what it should. A hydro pedal isn’t like the accelerator in a car. When you’re starting to stall and back off the pedal the rpms should stay up but the auto throttle drops the rpms at the same time.

I used it today doing several hours of work with the grapple. It worked really well. Set RPMs at 1800 then linked the pedal. When pushing into a loading pile, or moving between areas, it would ramp the RPMs up to 2300-2400 when needed, then reduce down to 1800 when not needed.

Seems like a good feature for this type of work.
