Let\'s see what people think now: 2910 or 3010

I have a quoted price for a new 2910 with folding ROPS and R4 tires of $13,500 delivered. If I want it with a FEL with two welded hooks it would be $16,500. Does this sound like a pretty good price?

I mostly need it for mowing wet to marshy land with a 7200 Woods 3pt mower. I'll also be bush hogging (probably 5') and doing some light to medium loader work.

In the wet soil, I would think lighter is better so I'm leaning towards the smaller tractor.

If I move up to a L3010 with Hydro, R4's, FEL and get a price of a little over 17K, should I not worry about tearing up the lawn and go for the bigger tractor?

It's hard to say how either tractor will work in a wet mashy area. If it's soft enough you will get stuck, probably with either tractor. Glennmac has gotten stuck with a 2910 on way more occations that any of us would want to repeat. It's hard to say if the 3010 will be better or worse. It's heavier, but the tires are larger and will distribute the weight better - touch call.

Setting that part aside, I'd lean towards the 3010 unless there is some other obstical to the larger tractor.

I'm with Hayden, got the bigger tractor. I would get the oversized turfs if its that wet. They will allow you to "float" on the top, and spread out the weight alot more. Plus with all that rubber in contact with the ground, traction should not be a problem.

Re: Let\'s see what people think now: 2910 or 3010

I started looking at the smaller "B" series tractors based on specs, but wound up with the larger L3410 HST, R4's and FEL. There have been no regrets at all. Kubota makes a solid product and my local dealer has been wonderful (but he is converting to JD only...)

Your requirements are however more geared to mowing (If I understand correctly), and the calculation of ground contact in PSI with each tractor should be looked at with the available tire combinations. Don't settle for what the dealer wants to give you. Explore all of the options, including going to a tire dealer and discussing with a different "expert".

Have Fun!

Alright you people talked me into it! I'm moving up and getting the 3010.

Now I have to negotiate a price on another tractor.

Do you all think $17,400 is a reasonable price for a L3010 with:

FEL
R4 tires
Hydrostatic trans
Folding ROP's

Your quick response would be appreciated, I'm taking off work early today to talk numbers with my local dealer.

Re: Let\'s see what people think now: 2910 or 3010

I bought from Carver and had a great experience. One thing I'll point out, though, is if you want other implements now is the time to work out a package deal with him. On the implements I bought after taking delivery of my L3010 the shipping charges ate up any savings and then some! So figure out what you want and have Steve give you his best package deal now, while the shipping is all rolled up into the cost of one delivery.

Re: Let\'s see what people think now: 2910 or 3010

I agonized over the B2910 and the L3010 for a couple of months until I test drove them. The L3010 was, by far, more comfortable, more powerful, and just felt good IMO.

The price you mentioned sounds really good. I just paid $17,900 for my L3010 w/ HST, FEL, R1's, and non-folding ROPS. Good luck.
