I just used my Leinbach L7300 for the first time today. I'm trying to figure out if I did something wrong or if it just won't fit my tractor without modifications. Basically, when I installed it the auger bit dragged on the ground. I couldn't lift it high enough. To me, it seemed like the U shaped bar that goes on the lower links is too short. Any ideas? I'm thinking of welding on about 6" of additional material on the U shaped bar.
Thanks,
Rick

The top of the "U" should have the option of connecting to one of I think 5 holes in the plate welded along the top of the boom. Which hole is the "U" attached to? I have a 7200 and use the middle hole and this gives me adequate clearance with my tractor. The closer you connect the "U" to the tractor, the higher the boom end will lift.

I tried the one closest to the tractor. I'm thinking the U is just too short. I tried to find something in the instructions but they might as well not have any from what I've seen. I'm going to try to fit it better tomorrow to see how much material I need welded on the U....

Does your tractor have another set of holes that the boom pole can fit into? Try the lower ones if available...I agree that that the instructions are pretty poor...

Also if your in the 1st hole when you raise the boom are you sure it is not binding against the U keeping the 3 point from going all the way up your tractor shouldn't have any problem with that PHD. Post a pic so we can see what is going on

I tried the lower set of holes on the tractor. On level ground the auger drags about 4 inches.

Is there any adjustment on the tractor for the height of the arms? One thing that I have always thought was odd is that the arms don't move until I move the lever to about 5. Really the only change I get is between 5 and 8.

Ok...here are some pictures.

The first one shows how high the boom is when the 3pt is raised all the way up. The second one shows the rear end of the tractor. The third one shows what happens when you use the lowest pin setting on a L3400. Basically, I need to find a way to raise the boom..... I can either mod the U or raise the 3pt lower arms on the tractor. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the third picture, it looks like there is another lower hole in the toplink bracket. Am I seeing it correctly?
Another thought, does the Pats links push the lower arm attachment point out a little? If so, removing them would straighten out the support and possibly gain some height. It may also allow moving the support rearward into another hole closer to the tractor.

Here's a picture with the toplink in the lowest hole. Because Pat's lifts the lower arms up, I would think that it helps if anything....

Have you tried moving the pin that connects the toplink to the boom farther out toward the end of the boom/PHD head? Then adjust the toplink to be as short as it'll go... Your toplink may be binding, or you need a shorter toplink.

Have you tried taking the auger out, disconnecting the toplink and PTO shaft, and lifting it with just the lower lift arms. Thought it'll try to rotate the head backwards you should be able to shove it back up enough to check to see how high the lower lift arms will lift it... That'll tell you if the problem is in the way the toplink is connected.

Just a thought... thank goodness I don't have to hassle with a 3PH any more... :) Though, I am thinking of getting a Leinbach and putting a QA plate and hydraulic motor on it.

Think of a triangle. You have lengthened the bottom of the triangle with the Pat's adaptors, thus lowering the other 2 legs of the triangle. Try it without the Pat's and see how that works.

I figured it out, sort of... It's definitely the adjustment on the height of the arms on the 3pt. I removed the stop and found that I have a lot more movement past 8 (the furthest point). I did some checking and found out that I have no movement until after I push the lever to about 3.5. Here is what it looks like when I remove the stop. Does anyone know how to adjust the 3pt for height that it lifts? For now, I'm just removing the stop.
Thanks,
Rick

I'm not much on geometry, but if it was me, I think I'd try using one of the adjustment holes closer to the gearbox. If you do that your u-frame should stay more vertical and give you more lift. Had the same problem on a used no name phd I bought, but it was going the other way. Once I had it vertical it was a foot or more off the ground. Losing the quick change ends would help to.
