Not the happiest camper right now. I bought a set of bucket forks and have been moving a few 10 foot logs that are no bigger than 12-18 inches in diameter. This morning after move a few, I forked down to pick one up and my left wheel assembly kicked in at the top. I knew something major was wrong. After putting the bucket flat on the ground and lift the tractor up, the wheel assembly fell off! I checked it out a little more and it appears maybe the lugs were not tightened and that started the back out. I found 3 of the lugs and the threads were mangled at best. Two holes in the rim itself was oblonged and all 6 holes on what im calling the axle half mounting plate, have the threads mangled as well. Called the dealer up and their gonna take a look monday morning.
What a bummer.......im trying to get some logs loaded to take to the mill to get rough sawn to dry to use in our house being built.
The dealer says this is the first problem like this that has came about his way. I didnt figure given the size of the 5035 that this could happen. I guess checking your lugs is a good idea......atleast I will in the future.

I had a couple loosen up on me and wreck some stuff, so now I put blue Locktite on them. 3 years later, no problems and still can come off by a little extra torque.

I had a left front tire and wheel break off on my JD 3020 just as I finished Bush Hogging and was going down the farm road to the main HWY....Thank God it broke then...just imagine if it had happened on the main road going home...? It was the same thing , the wheel bolts were loose and a turn with the FEL under load put too much strain on the left tire...I used the FEL to jack it up...went and had the tire and a tube put on a new wheel and was on my way that afternoon....Good Luck with yours.

There has been literally hundreds of threads warning new owners that they need to check the lug nuts on all tires within about 10 hours and tighten them. Check again after 50 hours and if not loose, I would put them on a checklist for every 100 hours to check for tightness.

Another item that needs to be monitored closely is the attachment bolts that hold the FEL frame to the tractor. They tend to loosen with use and on some models will continue to work loose very frequently so they need to be checked often to make sure that they are tight. When they get loose, they usually shear inside the tractor housing making for a real problem to get out.

I had some bolts that loosened off twice on my LS front wheel hub. I ended up getting blue Loctite and some Swedish made two piece lock washer to put on each bolt. NO more trouble after that

I've never have had this issue before. After giving the right front a second look over it looks like it might be fixing to have issues there aswell......I will bring that up to the dealer also. I will bring the blue lock tight up and suggest that aswell. This has definitely been a learning experience for me.
I took another look earlier at the side that came off and the threads on the face of the axle half were pretty much ripped off about 1/4" from the face in. Im pretty much gonna blame loose lugs for this whole deal.

Semi-OT. I bought an MTD rider back around 2001. About three months of use and the dash/steering wheel mount had loose bolts. The seat frame was getting loose. I took it back to the TSC I bought it from. The mechanic said he had seen a bunch of these issues. He explained that MTD had changed the hardness of the bolts from like 8 to 5 to save $0.005 per bolt. (That's half a cent.) The softer bolts didn't tighten the same way and anyone who used the mowers hard were experiencing the issue.

So maybe if you have bolts coming loose look at the hardness mark and maybe upgrade.

Perhaps my dealer will take this new fix for my 5035 on board and call the AWOL wheel a new safety feature to stop the tractor kicking out of range or gear when going down hills?

the dealer came out and viewed the tractor. Like me, he believes the blame was loose lug. They are ordering a new hub and half shaft assembly along with a new rim.he said he did not actually take the other front wheel off but by glance it appears to be starting to do the same thing. Apparently they are getting the Mahindra reps involved with this particular issue as well. It was the mechanics understanding that when a wheel is put on at factory, after the lugs are tightened, they are to be marked with a white marker. Mine arent on the front but they are on the back. None the less I should have it back by mid next week.

And you still need to check them periodically when they get the new hub and wheel on. The paint under the nuts will "wear in" and they will get loose again. Eventually they will stay tight. But new tractor lug tightness is just a part of regular maintenance like greasing. And yes please don't forget the loader mounting frame bolts. I have heard of these problems dozens of times here on TBN. One of the benefits of being a TBN junkie is profiting from everyone's else's unfortunate experiences. Hope you get back up and running soon.
