Most 6v LED lights are only about 40-80 lumens for lanterns and flashlights.

if you are looking for a par 46 sized ( ge 4019 30 - 35w ) led bulb... good luck.

I'm assuming you are trying to find bulbs for the original trac to lite shells .. right?

Might have to make something using this ( S25 24 LED Light 6VDC ) or something similar.

I never tried it but would leds work in series like incandescent do? 2 6v leds in series equal 12v. I don't know if the diode would pass the current to the next in line.

if he has a 6v 8n, then he needs 6v lamps... if he has a 12v 8n, then skip 6v lamps in series and instead go for 12v lamps.

yes.. series led's work.. but IMHO not an ideal setup.

I agree, but didn't know if the led's could be used that way.

what I'm looking for is a way to get some LED lighting for my 6v 8N. The generator just puts out enough to light the two incandescent headlights, but no charge to the battery, according to the ammeter. With a rear worklight on, amps goes to discharge. Series is an interesting idea to look at. The tractor starts and runs fine on 6 volts.

get a small 12 volt battery , mount ti and use it only for the lights , the LED lights dont draw much . Charge the battery when necessary

keep in mind, the load that inverter will be putting on the 6v side will likely be larger than running more incandescent lamps.

the 6v led's will likely be the best bet. 2 in front, one in rear.. etc.

As for the op's charge situation.. I'd replace the ammeter... if you are using 30-35w lamps.. you should still have generator capacity left for charge with 2 lamps on.. 2 35w lamps should, at most run 12a... as long as you are not ideling, you have 8a of nominal capacity for charge and ignition left over. and with 3 lamps on you would be right at break even with ignition.

The charge amps will taper down as charge comes up.. usually to only about 2a.
