LEAKS ???

Why does hydraulic fluid keep leaking from the vent on the power steering reservoir of my 2005 7520? Has happened from time to time over the years with my sporadic use, but lately my future son-in law (and no my wife says that's not the problem) has been using it regularly and the fluid been pouring out of the **** thing! Checked the filters and lines for obstructions and everything appears in order. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:confused2::mur:

Is your power steering making oil? You need to take out any extra fluid and get the level at the mark on the dipstick, run it a couple of hours and see if it made any fluid. If it gained the problem is in the seals between the hyd. pump and PS pump. The Hyd. pump can leak through the seal and push it into the PS pump. I have only seen it happen once but it was on a 7520 about that year model.

This makes sense! Checked and rechecked the fluid level for the PS over time and it always seems to be right at or near its appropriate level. That's what was confusing, level looks good in the reservoir one minute, spilling all over the place the next! I'll give your test a try and see what happens. Thanks for the information.

My 4025 will do this once in a while. Fluid is at proper level, filter has been changed. The only thing I have come up with is when I get into a tight spot and keep the wheel hard on lock in one direction or another (making a hard turn) is when this appears to be happening. I can not see this from the seat and I am going to try it with the hood open as soon as I get the chance. Try it with your future son in law at the wheel and let me know how it comes out. You may get to say it was him after all to your wife.

Mahindra offers a kit that contains the seals in the pump. You must remove the pump and disassemble it to install the kit, if you are mechaniclly inclined go for it, if not seek help. You may want to check for a suction leak that could cause the oil to foam, that can cause the fluid to overflow. Make sure your using ATF type fluid and not Transmission/hydraulic fluid.

Should be able to pull off the seal change! Will double check the fluid type, but I think (hope) its whats specified by Mahindra? Thanks

Is there a particular name for the seal kit? So the hydraulic pump and PS pump are a single, but separate unit?

Got hold of the seal kit, changed them out, and all is well! Leaks stopped and everything appears to be in order. Future son-in-law is now 'present' son-in-law and that seems to be OK too! Thanks for you help!
