Got home from a 2 week out of town trip and there is a big puddle of diesel fuel under my 354. It's coming from the sediment bowl but the glass seems tight and not cracked. Any ideas? I didn't have time tonight to look carefully tonight and was hoping someone knew the fix. Plus.... I feel kinda lazy and don't really want to find out what's leaking if someone else has seen it before.... Thanks!

If it hadn't been leaking before, it's likely just worked loose due to vibration. I guess you didn't get around to see if tightening it up might stop the drip

Those are crappy strainer/shut off valves. That was the very first modification I made to my JM354 Jinma crate build. The orifice holes in the little twist valve were way too small for any quanity of fuel to pass thru. I went to the local industrial hose house and with the hose from the tractor that went from tank to the filter and they made one new end that went to 1/4" pipe. Bought a 1/4" pipe needle valve replaced the Jinma strainer/shutoff valve. While I was assembling the crate tractor I had removed the fuel tank and thourouly cleaned it. Like the old caterpillar fuel caps used to say "Buy clean fuel and keep it clean". With the spin on filter and using clean fuel I just don't need the tank strainer. Been working fine for 4 yrs now. I think the Jinma factory should change those valves. bjr

No argument there, you're not the first to experience that issue. But the OP problem seems to have a problem with the sediment bowl itself leaking. If it's a plastic bowl, it's probably become distorted. If it's glass, the rubber seal is probably compromised.

But the simplest approach is to simply tighten it down. If the leak stops - end of problem.

Hey crofutt,
I have seen the rubber o-ring in the jamb nut go bad that locks the bowl.

We have the replacement sediment bowl assemblies if you need one, sounds like the O-ring may have went bad or distorted as mentioned above
