I've got a diesel leak above the fuel pump somewhere. I can't figure out exactly where it's at. I've never done anything to the injectors aside from unscrewing them when bleeding the fuel lines. Everything is original to the tractor as far as I know - at least for the last 10 years. The lines are the plastic, fragile lines. Is it worth it to try to reseal the injectors and replace the overflow lines (can't remember what they're really called) or should I just suck it up and replace the injectors as well? Also - having never done this before - is it something an average competent person can do?

The "return line" is just held in place w/ a banjo bolt, sandwiched between 2 copper washers..
1 washer seals the bottom of the injector & 1 the bottom of the b. bolt.
BE CAREFUL, the bolts are somewhat fragile & WILL snap off if over tightened..
Just get yourself a handful of the CORRECT copper washers & replace..
Chances are, if they're leaking fuel, they're sucking air. which will make for, hard starting & rough running depending on how bad the leak is..
IF your experiencing those symptoms & thinking the injectors are the cause.. replace the coppers first.. that might just save you several hundred $ in unnecessary injector repairs.?

Excellent advice. I'll give my NH dealer a call to order the copper washers. Starting fine, running fine for now but definitely leaking fuel. I'll report back with what happens. Thanks again.

Ford sells the plastic return line that has 3 adapters to fit around the injectors and connection for the outlet. Really nice and not a problem to install. BTDT

Since I have been running Fords for over 30 years, I have on occasion used fuel line and SS clamps to interconnect the return lines but with the pre-built adapters, no way would I fool with hose and clamps again.

On injectors use clean fuel and filters and I use an injector cleaner, Power Services brand. I have 5 tractors, all diesels as shown and I just don't have fuel problems period! Don't replace your injectors if they are doing the job....needless expense. (opinion)
