LB1914
G'day all,

I need help!!

I am looking at a used (1998) LB1914 with loader and grader blade. It has a blue chassis ( if that helps). It shows 500 Hours on the meter ( looks older than that)

On the Kioti site for the engine listed for LB1914, it shows 2 different horsepowers, what is this about?

My concern is that the engine has a distinct rattle ( like a big end in a petrol engine) and because I don't know a lot about diesels, I am wondering how much a new engine for this tractor would cost??

Or can you buy a rebuild kit ?

Is $6000 a good price for this unit ?

What is the difference between grey and blue chassis?

I also noticed a small oil leak from the front left spindle, will this cost much to fix?

Thanks in advance for your answers and help !

Diesels will rattle and make noise that gas guys freak over.

500 hours ain't nothing. I have units come in for service that have that much time and and it is their first service period.

New engine don't even think rebuild yes but now you are at the price of a new unit.

Don't look at engine data look at tractor data for HP.

The front axle seal well nothing serious probably even if it needs bushings. Several hundred bucks. Parts are cheap for this fix but it takes alittle time to do it.

Blue are older gray are newer.

If in doubt buy new for about twice the used price.

These are tough units.

If you shop well, you should be able to do better. Just the tractor for around $8500/loader about $2k. New with warranty is a good way to go.
Probably not that much wrong with the tractor. Depends on what rattle means. Diesels sound like that normally. Go listen to some other tractors that are similar. The leak probably just needs a seal, shouldn't be too much to repair. John

Thanks for the input gentlemen,

After re reading what I posted, "rattle" is not the correct term, a distinct "knock" can be heard over the rattle, it does smooth out with rpm.

On a previous thread I read where they changed engines in these tractors, does anyone know when and why ?

Thanks again for all your help.

Regards,

Rohan

I'm not really aware of an engine change, and Kioti doesn't post stats on their older models. Someone who's sold them for years should be able to say.
I suspect you're hearing a normal diesel sound as regards the knock. John

I just happen to have a Lb1914 and I bought it a little over a year ago. I payed close to the same money your talking about. My tractor is a 1995 with the same equipment. It only had about 275 hrs on it at that time.
My only advice is check it out good and use the loader with a good load in it and also check to make sure the four wheel drive works. Mine did not and I didn't know it until I got it home and started using it. It cost around 800 to fix.
I will tell you that the 1914 is a great little tractor and it will surprise you at how much it will do. If I could do it over, I would have went with a new unit but I still love this little guy. It has served Me well.
Good Luck
Bob

Update:

I purchased my lb1914 for $5700 with loader and grader blade. It had 501 hours on the clock, it now has 510 !!

It works perfectly, I have gotten used to the diesel rattle(lol).

My next mission is to give it a full service, all fluids, filters etc..

I am very happy, it is getting the job done !!

Thank you everyone for your input, I greatly appreciated it ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulations, and welcome to the club. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do mine. I would suggest that if you don't have the manuals yet, you may want to get them as soon as you can. They can really help you out.
Congratulations again, /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
