Any major differences between an older LB1914 (1996-97) and the newer models?

The major change has been the engine
The older models used a TD950D engine
The newer ones use a 3C093D engine

Thanks Paul for your response. There have been some questions lately about this model, and I can't answer about the older ones. I'm glad to know there was a change in the engine. It explains a lot. John

Yes.. speaking of the engines in the 1914. There are even 2 of the 3c093 engines. Seems the specs are pretty close but the one rated for 21HP is rated for that at 3600RPM... well below where both the CK20 and LB1914 are max out at.

Which engine goes where.. and how is Kioti getting the 21HP for the LB1914 and CK20's out of them?

Is it possible to change the throttle setting to get the full rated 21HP?

If yours is a 98 then it should have the TD950 engine. They switched over the the 3C093 engine the beginning of 99. Main difference in the engines I believe is the older ones were a sleeved cylinder engine where the newer ones are not. The newer style is a direct bolt in replacement for the older one.

Thank you greatly John for your knowledge and insight !!

Very interesting..... I always thought a sleeved diesel to be a better engine ??

What is your experience ?

Thanks

The main advantage of a sleeved cylinder I believe is ease of rebuilding down the road, that way you just put a new sleeve in and use standard size pistons and rings. But the reason that Kioti did away with them was because it just wasn't cost effective anymore. And by cost effective I mean for the customer. It is actually cheaper to replace a Kioti engine than to rebuild, and you get more bang for your buck with a new vs rebuilding your engine. With a new Kioti engine you complete engine, head, also get a new injection pump, and a flywheel. Basically all you have to do is switch over your alt, starter hook everything back up and you are good to go. We have sold several of the LB1914 engines. One guy I remember him saying his engine had about 5,000 hours on the meter when I asked, but stated his meter had not been working for the past couple years. He said he used the tractor daily in a house arena. No telling how many more hours it could have on it.

Thanks John,

You have raised an interesting point , What does a replacement engine cost ?

I am shocked that a replacement is less than a rebuild.

I am starting to become a Kioti convert...may even buy a shirt..lol

Thanks
