Kubota L5740 HSTC
I have a new L5740 on the way and I am planning on running 12-16.5 R4 tires on the front. To keep the correct drive ratio, I will need to run either 16.9-24 or 19.5L-24's on the rear. I'd like to get the whole wheel/ire combo from Kubota and swap out my stock wheels/tires at the dealer. I haver the fronts figured out, as the MX5100 fronts are a direct fit. I can't find any specs on the M series rear tires though. The M series models from M5140 through M9540 all apear to take the same wheels, so does anyone know if the rear wheels from any of these models will fit my L5740? I'm mostly concerned with the bolt circle and center hub diameter. Thanks.

BTW, some right think I'm crazy trying to figure this out instead of going to turfs, but I would like the extra flotation with the wider R4's, including the better traction.

The MX5100 has 17.5 X 24 R4's on the rear. The MX series are on the 5XX GL series frame.

The MX5100 must be geared differently to run the larger front tires and same size rears as the L5740. My plan is to put the 12-16.5 tire/wheel combo from the MX5100 on the front, but in order to keep the drive ratio in spec, I will need taller rears, such as the 19.5L-24, which are on the rear of the M9540. It's much cheaper, for whatever reason, to buy thevtires and wheels already assembled right from Kubota. I guess anothervoption would be to just swap out my stock rears for the larger size, but the 19.5's are supposed to be mounted on a 17" wide rim, whereas the stock ones on the L tractor are 16" wide. I'm not sure if this would matter, though. I'd just like to know if the rear wheels off the M5140, 6040, 7040, 8540, 9540 etc., would mount up to the L5740. I know the bolt circles are the same, just not sure on the hub outside diameter.

Are you sure the taller rears will clear your fender openings? You also need to look at added width to the inside. There isn't much clearance there.

Should be plenty of room, since I run the rears on the wider width for stability. The 19.5-24 rears are 2.6 inches taller, so only 1.3 inches closer to the fender. They are actually .5 inches shorter than the standard R1 tire for this tractor. They are 2 inches wider than the standard R4, so an inch closer to the inner fender, and once the wheels are set wider it shouldn't be an issue.

I know the bolt circles are the same, standard 8 bolts on 8" circle. It's just a matter if the wheels will fit. Unfortunately, Kubota does not supply their dealers with wheels specs, and they won't confirm whether the M-series R4 wheels will fit on an L-series. My dealer that is setting up the tractor doesn't have an M-series with R4 tires to compare the wheels.

I wish Kubota would just use the 12-16.5 R4's on the front right from the factory. I don't need larger tires in the rear, but would like to keep the drive ratio the same.

You might be able to balance it out by over inflating the rears to 18 or 20 lbs of air.

I decided to go with the stock tires for now. I need to get it home before we start to get any real snow. Hopefully I'll be able to take some good measurements on the M-series wheels eventually and upgrade. I'll post up some pics when I get it home.
