Folks
I have an old water trough that's 30-40 years old that hadn't been used for years. It about 10-14' in diameter and about 3' tall. It has developed large cracks in several places. How can I repair this? Any recommendations?

hydraulic cement is a possibility, chisel out the cracks so there is a place for the hydraulic cement to mechanical bind into.

a liner could be a possibility,

Depending on the size of the cracks you can have different methods.
Narrow crack can be sealed with epoxy. Larger cracks can be widened and repaired with hydraulic cement

So epoxy or hydraulic cement? Would mortar be a possibility? just batch some then spread over cracks. Will it not stick?

I was thinking flexseal also but personally haven't used it. Know a couple guys that have and they swore it was good stuff.

A skim coat of mortar will not stick and will break off in pieces that will drive you crazy.

Go to Home Depot (or elsewhere), and buy a gallon of concrete bonding adhesive. ($14)
This bonding adhesive product looks like milk.
Paint the bonding adhesive in the cracks, and let it dry.
Then make a concrete paste of fine sand & cement (with water), and also add some bonding adhesive to the mix.
Coat the cracks for a second time with bonding adhesive, and while that is still very tacky, fill the cracks with the paste.
When dry, coat the trough with two coats of two part epoxy paint.

Flexseal would NOT BE A LASTING FIX for this situation!
