Power Trac 425
Has anyone had any experience using a landscape rake(York Rake) with their Power Trac? I'm interested in using one on my 425 with maybe a set of guide wheels. I would like to use it for maintaining my gravel driveway as well as finish grading. I've had experience using one with a CUT and it worked well pulling it. Not sure how it would perform out front? I was thinking of using my extra quick attach plate. Any help with experience, brand, usefullness, size would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a Howse (I think) 5ft one that Rich put a QA plate on and used... but, I have limited personal experience with it. I'm not quite to the point of putting the lawn in or maintaining the driveway.

Note that you can turn it so you pull it or push it, though...

I rented one and attached it to the rear with a lynch pin. Needed to remove large rocks from a newly established lawn area and worked great...much easier tham pulling with the Farmall since turning radius was tigher and a lot easier to hop off the PT to make frequent adjustments than to hop off the Farmall!

Yes, I have an 8 ft York Modern Implements MR38-8 with welded on quick attach which I use with my 1845 and Bush Hog box blade to maintain a half mile or so of road. It works well out front though working backwards takes a good set of mirrors and some practice. Ya gotta keep your eye on the ball. In this case the mirrors. If you lose focus and glance forward to see what the rake is doing you'll be in the bushes before you can blink. Focus is key. If I want to check on the rake, I stop. Then restart when I get focussed again.

Early on I thought I might remount the rake to face forward but never got around to trying it.

In the spring I'll rake up the leaves and stuff, and rake out the ditches. Then loosen the surface to a depth of 3-4 inches with the rippers on the box blade. Then I'll blade it to shape and give it a final light raking. If I've been careful to rip it deep enough to get below the pothole depth, and leave a good crown, it'll usually last the year without any more attention.

KENTT,
HAVE YOU HAD A CHANCE USING THE RAKE THIS PAST SUMMER? I AM
THINKING OF A SIMILAR PROJECT THIS WINTER AND WONDER HOW IT WAS
WORKING FOR YOU AND IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

I've used it a little, but not enough to put it through its paces. It seems to work pretty well raking up debris. I haven't used it for seedbed prep, so I haven't realy tried levelling the dirt with it...

I had a 3 pt hitch adaptor made, and used mine to smooth out some crusher-run gravel...worked great.

Those guide wheels are a good idea. I hate backing up everywhere.
