I've been looking for a landscape rake to put on my FEL skid steer QA, but the only thing I've been able to find so far is the York Rake. But as you can see, even the 6 ft. model cost $3,000. Is there anything cheaper out there? I want to put it up front because I want to clean up branches and brush without driving over them first.

If I get a 3-PT adapter like this one, I could get the King Kutter Rake, or the Howse Rake. This combination would cost about $900 plus the cost of the gauge wheels, which I know are available for the King Kutter as an option, maybe also for the Howse. This would be a lot cheaper, but seems kind of redundant. Is the York just built a lot more heavy duty and that's why it costs so much, or is it that they just charge a lot more for anything 'skid steer'?

Does anybody know of a less expensive rake on a skid steer mount? And which 3-pt rake is better, the King Kutter or Howse or some other brand? They cost about the same for the given width.

If you can weld , buy a blank quick tach plate and weld tabs on it to match a TPH landscape rake, rotate the rake 180deg and your in buisness. Also do a search for posts by ronjhal . He mounted a quick hitch on his FEL.

Here is a link to a Photo on TBN Landscape rake
If you have the ability to weld. It may be cheaper to modify a TSC Quick Hitch. Here is a link to a thread where I modified mine. Speeco Quick Hitch. You will need to mount it on a Skid Steer adapter plate.

Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to weld, so modifying something isn't an option for me.

Ron, your photo is exactly what I'm looking for, except of course that I would turn in around a 180° so that I can push with it. Also, I read the thread you referenced. I thought the Category 1 3-PT hitch would be standard for any Cat-1 implement. Am I going to have to worry about the King Kutter rake or some other brand fitting into the 3-PT hitch adapter?

I guess considering that once I have the 3-PT Hitch adapter I could use it for something else, as well as the rake, it probably makes sense to go ahead and get the two pieces rather that paying a lot more for a rake with the skid steer plate.

Does anybody have an opinion about the different brands of landscape rakes?

I can turn my rake around. But in the picture I did not want any tire tracks from the tractor left in the soil. Last pass made was with rake tilted forward to keep gage wheels off ground.
I thought my Landpride rake was unbreakable. Let my son use it last fall. Some how he broke one of the tines. $23 later the tine is replaced. The tines on the cheaper models rakes are not as heavy as the Landpride. I would expect more of the tines to have broken on one of them.
I have been able to get all the 3PH attachments to fit the Quick Hitch. But the first time most of them have required some modification.

I don't want to hijack thread, but what Landpride rake did you break a tine on. I was thinking about buying 25 series, scarifiers and wheels.

It was on a LR1584. Tines are the same size on a 25 series rake. I think he backed the rake into something that would not give.:(

No hijack at all, flINTLOCK, I'm interested in what people think about, and have had experience with, different rakes. I know very little about them and want to get a good quality and durable one. I hadn't even looked at Landpride. I will now.
