Landpride Rotary Cutter Differences?

I am down to two rotary cutter options. A Landpride RCR1872 and Landpride RCF2072.

Looking at the specs they look almost identical. Same hp requirements, same cutting capacity (up to 2”), same weight (within 10 lbs), same deck thickness (10 gauge). The main difference I see is the RCF2072 has a 2” taller deck (11” vs 9”).

So I guess my question is what are the benefits of a taller deck? Just from what I have seen online looks like there is about a $400 difference in price, which means I could buy the RCR1872 and get a canopy for the same price as the RCF2072.

I am cutting tall grass (3 to 4 ft).

I would go with the taller deck, especially if you are cutting grass that tall. The grass has more room inside the cutting chamber to be stood up and cut. That would mean a cleaner cut and lessen the probability you will have to go over it again.

My deciding factor would be how badly I value the look of the field when it is finished and if I value speed more than the sun canopy.

I can also see why a canopy would be nice and possibly cut down on sun exposure.

More capacity in the brush hog reduces gumming up the works when chopping thick wet material I believe. Also possibly better for lower HP?

All I can say is I have an RCF2072 and it works well behind my L4240HSTC,service the clutch every year.My most used implement,mabe 60 hours a year.

RCR is a tough mower deck. I'd want that higher internal deck height for taller stuff.
