Where do I begin.....
I've heard people's endorsments for Landpride products in general, but I'm looking for any experience with the OS-15 Overseeder, 72" model specifically. Looking at the slit seeder option too. I'm considering expanding the mowing operation somewhat, to include turf renovation. (Some interest from clients as well as to justify owning one for my own use) My experience with seeders is with Brillion or Toro.

TIA,
Bill

The LandPride OS-15 is a copy of the Befco Green-Rite and the Green-Rite is a modified copy of a Howard slit seeder. The LandPride OS-15 is the most advanced design.

Thanks Mark. I'll take a serious look at the Befco model before any decision is made. The National Farm Machinery Show is less than 3 months away. I'm less than 25 miles from the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center where the show is held. I'm hoping to get a closer look at ALL my options there, hopefully even buying a show display model at a reduced price.

I have a First Products Seeda-vatorIt works well for overseeding. I used it mostly for pasture renovation but did some lawns and it worked very well. It had an areator spring tooth then a roller the seed was droped ahead of the areator. The web site is Welcome to First Products. I dont know how to make a link to it. Also mine is for sale. PM me with any questions. Renovator

What is the price on the Befco 58 inch unit? Someone told me the landpride unit is around $8000. Is this correct?

I have the John Deere overseeder it is made by Befco. I like it and would recommend it. I priced a Befco and John Deere and bought the John Deere cheaper. I think I gave $6500 for mine. I got the gauge wheels and the rear scraper as options. The only thing I would do different is get the front roller instead of the gauge wheels. With the front roller you can get closer to trees, driveway and other things. I did look at the 72 inch woods overseeder at the cost of $4000 but it had roller with spikes set at a angle to tear up the ground and no pto. The John Deere is a rotor tiller with straight tine to tear up the ground. Don't know what you will be pulling it with but I have a 3320 and the 58 inch wide is all I want. I took the loader off to get closer to things and had to put about 500 pounds of weight on the front end just to get the tractor to steer.

I have a 72' woods renovator. It works pretty good. This year has been extremly dry. With the front rollers set on an angle, they did a nice job of braking lose the bad spots. We still haven't been getting much rain, so some of the jobs are not looking very good. I remove the fel and have no problem with the front end be light.

I have a Jacobsen 548 slit seeder which I like fairly well. It is offset and also sets back fairly far from the tractor - makes the B2910 alittle light in the front without the loader. It has a similar set up to the Landpride OS-15, except no cultipacker in the back and no tires on the side. I have been satisfied with the overseeding jobs it does. I wish I could crank up the rates alittle more though.

I also just bought a used Land Pride PS1572 (72" primary seeder) I have alittle work to do on it this winter, but am very excited about seeding some new construction jobs and some overseeding on sparse lawns with it this Spring. My Kubota has no problems with the weight of this one. It has two cultipackers (one in front of the seed box and one in back of it).

I really don't think you can go wrong with either Land Pride or BEFCO. I would suggest pricing around and look for a local dealer willing to work with you. Parts can be a real challenge on some of these products. I just replaced the tines on my Gill pulverizer - wow are they proud of those things!!! I have replaced some things on my Jacobsen as well and they are also very expensive!!!

I believe the Jacobson is now what carries the Toro brand name. I've rented one on a couple occasions and was very pleased with it's results. They're apparently the slit seeder of choice on most golf courses. It's on my short list of "possibles". Your appraisal of parts availability is the #1 reason I'm considering the Landpride as the #1 choice so far. I've got a great working relationship with the local dealer who carries that brand.

I don't know a lot about seeders but am trying to learn more as I need to at the very least broadcast seed my pastures this spring. That said, I stopped by my dealer this past weekend and he was all excited about some new type of overseeder that Landpride has apparently just released in order to compete by selling to the farmer/larger estate owner/smaller contractor. All I know is that it sells for around 3500-4000 dollars, weights around a thousand pounds (not loaded), and is not PTO powered. It looked to have two adjustable spiked wheels in front of the seeder and one in the back and can be adjusted to seed bare ground or existing grass without destroying it.
