About to add a new Kubota B2601 to use in garden tilling and whatever my wife can think of. Anyone using the FM25 with HD y knives, Kubota brochure says y knives have cutting capacity of 1.5”, 2” for hammer knives.
want to use for terminating ground covers and green manure crops in the future garden.
Whick knife choice would be best suited for these needs?

I have a Woodmaxx FM62 on my little BX2200 and I have the Y knives on it. Y knives are grass knives and do a phenomenal job being used for finish mowing or grass/very light brush cutting.
The hammer knives are used for brush cutting and for rocks/rough terrain and they leave a rougher finish and the clipping don't get mulched as well.
I just had my flail mower out today and I used it to clear up 2' tall grass. Machine has NO issues and the results are impressive. In one pass it looks like I've been manicuring it monthly. Far cry from what a rotary cutter can do.
I'm proud to be part of Flail Mower Nations too.
