Landpride BB1260 for residential driveway work @ 346 Lbs: good choice?

I need a blade box for light residential driveway work - for removing some rots and spreading new gravel. I have a Kubota B3200 with loaded tires and 4" spacers.
After reading the forums, I left with the impression that for grading work the weight of the box blade was vital. Because of this information, I went to my Kubota dealer to price a Landpride BB1560 @ 428Lbs or a BB2560 @ 471 Lbs.

To my surprise, the Kubota dealer is telling me that the best match for my tractor would be a BB1260 @ 346 Lbs. Of course, ironically this is the only blade box he has in stock. They want $1,000 for it, which is tempting.

I would like to get a second opinion from the group to verify whether a lighter blade box like the BB1260 would be adequate or a waste of money. Is 346 Lbs on a 60" box good enough for residential work? I honestly would love for this smaller BB1260 to work well with my tractor and my needs but I need to double check with the group.

This is the BB I have and honestly, I'm not very fond of it. It broke a tooth off the first week I had it. If I had a do-over, I would have bought a used heavier duty one...They're everywhere on marketplace.

My opinion is LP is overpriced for what it is. I think there are better implements/attachments to be had than these. I bought two LP when I bought my tractor and will look elsewhere for any others going forward. But the 20/25 series is definitely more heavy duty than the 15 series is.

my landplane i think is close to 600-700 pounds and is a bit much for my tractor, but there have times where its not heavy enough and bounces over, unless i drop the scarifiers. I feel like 300 pounds is a toy, will be fine for just laying new gravel, but if you plan to rip the driveway at all, you might be disappointed.

With either box blades or straight blades, heavier is always better. You can always take smaller bites of the material if necessary. But I do like Landpride products in the more heavy duty grades. Their light duty grades are exactly that. I ended up buying a Bison rear blade at 1025# because it was the heaviest duty blade I could find at that price point.

I have a Kabota LX2610 which is smaller than yours, LandPride's website states that the BB1560 is a match for my tractor and that's what I purchased. I would think that if my tractor can work with the 1560, yours should be able to as well. There's plenty of videos showing where people have placed extra weights on their BB

I have a rear blade ( Rhino 950 - 8 foot - 1050 pounds ) and a box blade ( Bush Hog 720 - 6 foot - 750 pounds ).

My driveway - mile long - gravel. Can't remember the last time I ever used the box blade. I use the rear blade to remove snow and clean the driveway ditches.

I also have a Land Pride GS2584 Land Plane Grading scraper. 800 pounds - with scarifiers. This is the implement I use for fixing pot holes, water riffles and wash outs and generally keeping the driveway smooth.

Previously I had a Land Pride rear blade. Seven feet wide - around 420 pounds. It was worthless on my driveway. DEFINITELY not heavy enough. However - it was fun to drag it down the driveway in the evening and watch all the sparks.

The surface layer of my driveway - gravel, sand, silt, volcanic ash. In the summer this is hard as thirty year old concrete.

Forrest-Man ..... bottom line. If your driveway is anything harder than pure gravel - a 400 pound box blade will have trouble digging into your driveway. Yes - it will spread fresh gravel. But you should prepare the area first. Scarify the area first so the gravel will stay put. Spreading new gravel on a hard driveway surface is like pouring marbles on a glass surface.

Remember - weight is your friend with any ground engagement implement.

When it comes to cutting dirt heavier is always better. Throwing some bricks on a poorly made tool doesn’t make it equal. You can reduce the angle of the heavier tool to make it cut less.
