I have had an FDR1672 since 2000 and beat it relentlessly as a brush mower (with old blades) and a finish mower (with nice blades).
It is a very tough durable unit. Other than grease and new blades, occasional gearbox oil change I have had NO issues with it. Oh the tires dry rotted so I replaced them.
My tractor of choice is 26 hp but have tried it behind my new
L3940 Krapota. The 39 hp bogs down in tall grass so I wouldn't think you could hurt this thing with more power. Sometimes I get it stuck on a stump and the belt squeals and stinks and the blades stop turning but I still have the original belt on it, yup 13 years old and on my 5th set of blades and original belt.
Anything Landpride has been outstanding quality for me and trouble free. I would buy again with zero concerns. I say go for it.
