I have ended up with two finish mowers and need to get rid of one (no need for two). A 5' FDR1660 and a 6' AT2572. Can anyone comment on which of these is the better model? While it would be nice to have the 6' mower for less passes, and it seems the 16 series models are supposed to be lighter duty than the 25 series, from my eye the FDR1660 looks to be the tougher unit. It has larger, solid wheels and hubs and the arms for the wheels look beefier, as well. The deck also appears heavier duty. The AT is missing the discharge chute (no big deal) and the deck is bent forward a bit on the front side of the chute. From reading a bit it seems the ATs may be older than the FDRs, is that true. Are either still produced?

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a 1672 and it has been a great mower, no problems at all with it. I can't tell you anything about the other one.

I have a 84 inch Landpride finish mower and it's a beast. One time I accidentally hit a stump with it and busted off two of the three spindles. Kubota is a Landpride dealer and they had my parts for me in a week. Took a few hours to put it all back together. For me, being able to get parts is the biggest thing.

I have an AT2572 and it's been a good one. Never even replaced the belt on it. Did have to change a spindle once and parts are readily available for all the Landpride equipment. Spindle was bought about 5-6 years ago and cost approximately $120 dollars if I recall correctly.

The side chute stuck out to far for my liking so I took it off. I replaced all 3 blades I guess 5-6 years ago don't remember how much but I'm sure it wasn't outrageous or I would still be crying. I've seen the 16 Series and they look well built so it would be a hard decision which to keep. Both mowers are top notch machines and will last a lifetime so just keep them both.:)

Almost forgot when I looked at ordering the spindle assembly the 2572 showed the grease fitting coming out the side with a tube screwed into the spindle. Mine has the spindle with the grease zirk on the top of the spindle as shown being for the AT2672 instead of my AT2572. Everything else about the spindle was the same so I ordered the one with the zirk as shown with the AT2672. Not sure why it shows the other type. I did buy it used but the lettering on the back clearly shows AT2572.

The AT2572 I have says Made in USA. I thought Landpride was made in Italy. Their rototillers are made in Italy I think and fine equipment.

Isn't the 1660 a 5 foot rear discharge and the 2572 a 6 foot side discharge? Do either of those characteristics matter to you? I prefer the rear discharge because it doesn't leave a windrow of clippings. In fact, that's why I bought my FDR2560.

The RFM on the B7500 was an AT1560(?) that was used for the best part of 100 hours each year from 2002 till 2012. It was a side discharge 60" and I'm pretty sure that was the model number. Never any problems with it. When the grass got ahead of me it did have a tendency to leave windrows.

When the B7500 was replaced with the L3200, the deck was also replaced with an FDR1672. This one is a rear discharge and mowing time was reduced by more than the width ratio between the two decks. The rear discharge works a little better with taller grass.
